Inspiring Conversations with Connie Hayes of Fit 4 Life Sports & Rehabilitation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Connie Hayes

Hi Connie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been involved in sports for as long as I can remember. Growing up with six competitive brothers, my goal was always to beat them at everything; Monopoly , baseball, a foot race, you name it. This translated into my academic life. I was the first to attend University. I’m a combat veteran; a distinction that eluded my brothers. My quest to build the most mechanically sound body led me to sports medicine. I discovered in order to achieve this one cannot leave out the spirit. I include God in my practice of sports medicine. My office has very humble beginnings. I worked and lived in a 8’x12′ space. Now I have a 2000sqft space and even though it feels like I live there, I have a separate home. I have accomplished a lot in my 25 years of practice; with plans for much more. I am where I am today due to hard work, tenacity and God.. Future plans include a 6000sqft performance center.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Many challenges and struggles. My family was unable to help me financially. So I worked full time and attended school full time. There was no money to open my business, so I struggled to open my new business. Along the way, I was homeless. I worked my way out of homelessness.

We’ve been impressed with Fit 4 Life Sports & Rehabilitation, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is a sports medicine performance center. We specialize in giving our patients a competitive edge in life. We go the extra mile to get our clients back to the track, the court, the field, their life. I’m proud of the fact that our business treats everyone like family and we respond to the entire or every aspect of our clients ‘ health. I’m most proud that our care shines through. Our services are integrative, state of the art and we truly go the extra mile because we’ve created community at Fit 4 Life. We’re most proud that our people enjoy hanging out in our office

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I’m from a small town and I like the fact that St Louis is a city with a symphony and a small town feel (being made up of neighborhoods)
