Hi Ellen, can you introduce yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always worked in retail/apparel and have loved clothing ever since I can remember. A few years ago, my sister was getting married and was doing her wedding dress shopping in St. Louis. Every place we went had beautiful dresses, but there wasn’t a store that catered to a bride looking for something more modern, bohemian, or with an overall unique flair. That stayed in the back of my mind for those years, and I noticed that over time, no bridal stores had opened to fill that gap. Come COVID. I started rethinking a lot of things, just as many others did. I knew it was the right time to begin the process of opening Lovergirl & I’m so happy I took that leap.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve always had expensive taste, but without the budget to support it. When I started researching & looking into what designers I wanted to carry in Lovergirl, I was worried that I might need help finding the types of dresses I wanted to carry in the affordable price range I wanted to have for the store. I quickly found that that wasn’t the case at all. Once I began looking into these smaller, unique designers, I felt overwhelmed by my many options. I spent months collecting information from designers & narrowing down my choices. I finally narrowed it down to the 8 dress designers I currently carry in the store & they are all beautiful, unique, & extremely high quality while all are retailing under $3,000.

At Lovergirl, we cater to the bride who doesn’t want to settle for tradition. We’ve carefully curated some of the unique bridal wear & accessories from all over the world for the modern bride, bohemian bride, or even the classic bride that wants the smallest, unique twist to make her stand out on her big day. We are snuggled right in STL’s eclectic Grove neighborhood, where we offer an intimate & unique bridal experience. When you visit us, you & your crew will have the run of the place with exclusive access to our entire showroom. We make it less of an appointment and more of a party.

Our brides matter most to us. We focus on creating a fun, relaxing, & unique experience for every bride that walks through our door. We want our brides & to feel like they are just hanging out in their living room with their closest family & friends, drinking champagne, oh and also trying on beautiful dresses! We are located on the first floor of an old St. Louis city home that is very rich in character & super cozy.
