Inspiring Conversations with Tabitha Miller of Miller’s Magical Moments

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabitha Miller.

Hi Tabitha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my photography business during the peak of Covid-19 in 2020, right after I had my daughter. I was dedicated to being a stay at home mom at the time, so when I really decided I wanted to get into photography, it really made sense and felt like the perfect time in my life. I started documenting families, seniors, couples, and events. I liked it, but I did start to wonder if that was what I TRULY wanted to do. One day I was sitting on social media, and I came across a Birth Story post. I saw the most raw and real photos of childbirth. I was moved emotionally like I never had been before and that’s when I truly think my whole life changed. I had my daughter via cesarean section, so I didn’t get to experience giving birth as I had always imagined.

As I read the beautiful story of this amazing mother giving birth to a child as well as a mother, I realized that the day I had my daughter was a complete blur. I couldn’t remember her first cry, I couldn’t remember the first time I saw her, I couldn’t remember her first latch… and that’s when it hit me. I wanted to be the person to document these stories so that families can cherish those memories for a lifetime. I want to show mothers how beautiful, exceptional, and strong they truly are from an outsider’s perspective. So now I’m here, becoming a Certified Birth Photographer. My business is growing, and I feel so honored to be welcomed into something as sacred as the birth of a child.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been easy at all. Trying to get people to know your name is hard. There have been many months where I want to give up because I don’t have anything booked, and I was feeling this way just months ago. Today, my calendar is almost full for the upcoming months. It’s been a slow ride, but I’m getting there and I have goals that I fully intend on meeting.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business is a Birth Photography business. I focus on Maternity and Newborn, but I specialize in Birth. I offer more than photos of you in labor. I document the emotion, the strength, the pain, the magic; I’m there for it all. And I think that is what makes what I do special. It makes me proud knowing that I’m giving these families something that they are going to remember forever.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that people may not know about me is how in tune with other people’s emotions and feelings I am. When I’m in the birthing space, I feel the pain that the mother is going through, I feel the fear and joy in the father, I feel the calm in the room and I feel the fire. And I truly believe that my work shows that.
