We’re looking forward to introducing you to Bill Duvendack. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Bill, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
It usually starts with copious amounts of coffee, checking email, and taking care of social media.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am an author, astrologer, tarot reader, medium, and teacher, among other things. I’ve been in business for 17 years, and have been working with this kind of spirituality for over 35 years. What sets me apart from others is that I am known for being direct and educated on my subject matter. I started as a small business out of my home and have turned it into a career, doing it full-time, and expanding globally. I have written 23 books on western spirituality, with two more planned by the end of the year.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Funny enough, when I was very young, I wanted to be an astronomer or a photographer. Life happened, but I did get my BA in photojournalism with a minor in religion, and after that, I became an astrologer. So, I kind of came full circle.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
A corporate job. Basically, for the first half of my adult professional life, I tried to go the route of corporate America and worked at several places that use that mold, but for various reasons it never seemed to work out. So, when these situations didn’t work out repeatedly, I listened to the message from Spirit and quit trying. Now I no longer seek that.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Foundational shifts take time, and in this case it means that when it comes to identifying the difference between fads and foundational shifts; fads will fade in a few weeks or months, but foundational shifts will take months, if not years, to play out. Essentially, you have to give shifts time to develop, so you have to watch it for a long time.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
People will try to label me and pigeon hole me in such ways as “oh, he was all love and light,” or “he was…(this, that, or the other),” but I am bigger than that. I don’t say that in an egoic, condescending way, but rather my approach to occultism and spirituality is not as narrow as those labels. I take a holistic, inclusive look at everything; the light and the dark, the angels and others. I do this because I believe if you want to know, truly know, a subject, you have to study all of its aspects.
