Good morning Brooke-Lynn, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m chasing freedom. I don’t want to have to sell 8 to 10 hours of my day to another person in order to keep their business alive while I live off of breadcrumbs. I want financial, physical & mental freedom to live my life & be creative. If I were to stop I’d be failing the future generations to come after me because I am building generational wealth & a legacy for my family.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
MY NAME IS BROOKE-LYNN AWESOME. IM 22 & IM A BARBER, FASHION MODEL & CONTENT CREATOR. IM FROM SAINT LOUIS CITY & I ALWAYS TOLD MYSELF I WAS GOING TO BE SOMETHING IN LIFE. I WANT TO DO MORE THAN JUST WORK A 9 TO 5, I WANT TO MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE WORLD & LEAVE BEHIND A LEGACY .. NOT JUST BECAUSE I HAD IT HARD GROWING UP BUT BECAUSE I LEARNED A LOT FROM MY EXPERIENCES & I HAVE AN INSPIRING OUTLOOK ON LIFE THAT I WOULD LOVE TO SHARE WITH THE WORLD ALONG WITH MY PASSION FOR HAIR ARTISTRY & FASHION, I STRIVE FOR THE BEST & SETTLE FOR NOTHING LESS BECAUSE WE ONLY HAVE ONE LIFE TO LIVE SO WHY NOT LIVE IT TO THE FULLEST … YOU CAN SEE IT IN MY WALK, MY TALK AND MY ART…WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID I WANT TO MOTIVATE & INSPIRE OTHERS TO CHASE THEIR DREAMS ALSO TO LET THEM KNOW THAT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF ANY STORM, THERE’S A RAINBOW.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world is when I was around 15 years old & my step mom divorced my dad after 10 years of being manipulated & taken advantage of. He got caught doing a lot of really evil things too, going through that situation as a kid really made me realize that your mind is the most powerful tool you have, whatever you believe is going to be your reality & that I should educate myself on everything I possibly could so I wouldn’t be manipulated & taken advantage of in this game of life.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I was abused as a child, I haven’t had a relationship with my either of my parents in years & ofc I got my heart broken before lbs. I wouldn’t say I’m fully healed from these situations but I heal more everyday by going to therapy, praying & staying head strong by loving & believing in myself.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
Time = Money & Mind over Matter are 2 truths I live by everyday.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Psychology. Human behavior can be studied & manipulated so easily because we act in patterns, off emotion & what’s comfortable to us … we’re just programmed like this yet once you figure out how to use that to your advantage in the most harmless way possible you’re going to be successful in whatever field you want !
