We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dominique Ayers. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Dominique, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I just bought my first home in Cottleville, and watching my miniature dachshund, Crouton, run around the yard is the most fulfilling feeling ever! It’s a constant reminder and motivator that I couldn’t have done this without the incredible clients I have—and the amazing ones I continue to meet.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dominique Ayers. I’ve been in the cosmetic tattooing industry for six years, and within the past year I expanded and rebranded into The Bladed Brow—a larger space right in the heart of Webster Groves. I’m very passionate about education and teaching, so in addition to providing services, The Bladed Brow also focuses on offering classes and supporting aspiring artists as they take their skills to the next level.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
Growing up in a family restaurant, work has always just felt like second nature to me. My grandpa opened Arcobasso’s back in the 1970s, so a lot of my childhood was spent there. I can still remember the energy of the place—everyone constantly moving, working hard, and giving it their all. Watching my family put so much love and effort into what they did was so inspiring, and it really shaped the way I approach my own career today. Hard work wasn’t just taught to me—it was something I got to see lived out every single day.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have definitely been times when I’ve wanted to give up—but I’ve learned that if you keep showing up, purpose will follow. Giving up is always an option, but it’s one I refuse to choose and it’ll always pay off in the long run.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Of course, my closest friends would probably say my dog comes first—but after that, they’d definitely say it’s how much I care about being kind and friendly to everyone around me. I really believe it’s important to spread a little light and positivity whenever you can, and if I can make someone’s day even a tiny bit brighter or only for a second, that means the world to me.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I think my clients would miss the great conversations and the feeling of truly being heard. They’d also probably miss the fun, engaging environment —where it feels more like hanging out with a friend than just an appointment.
