We recently had the chance to connect with Jesseca and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jesseca , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve had a baby boy 6 months ago and starting over in this journey has been bringing me joy. Spending more time with my kids and seeing how my daughter interacts as a big sister has been a blessing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jesseca. I am a mother of 2 and owner of Jess Beauty Bar LLC. I have been in business going on 7 years. I offer braiding services like knotless , Senegalese twists and box braids. I also offer hair weaving services like basic sew ins and quick weaves. I offer services for children and adults. My pricing is also budget friendly , includes the hair for most services ,and always professional when delivering exceptional quality work while providing a friendly environment for you to relax. As always, i am working on getting my name out to the public more but always remaining authentic to my vision.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my sister shaped me to see myself. We were always close growing up so i feel like she’s always known the true me and wanted me to see it for myself. My sister has always pushed me , from being the shy girl in the back of the classroom to learning how to speak up because i had a voice that mattered too. My sister was very supportive in my journey to starting my business. She was the one who pushed me to take it more seriously and professional. We brainstorm business together , support each other and stay consistent. During this journey I’ve been able to reflect and see my changes and growth over the years. Each year i have gone further than the last , learned lessons but never gave up. I can say today , i am a woman who is consistent , driven and know there is no limits i can’t reach as long as i keep going.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to always be unapologetically you ! People will always love you for being true to yourself. Never dim your light to help another one shine. Stay focused , always take that risk & always have faith. Everything works out how and when it should. You will be ok !
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I believe my closest friends would say my family is what really matters to me. Everything i do is for my family that i am building. I pride myself in working hard so my children can live a life they deserve and have a childhood they don’t have to heal from.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Procrastinating. My weakness is procrastinating because i sometimes have the fear of failure so i have the habit of holding off on certain things to avoid disappointment. If i had ten years left , i would do everything i want/need without hesitation. Living in the moment creating memories and actually living life and not just letting the days pass.
