LaDaisha, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi I’m LaDaisha, owner of BraidsByLaDaisha. I specialize in knotless, stitch braids and tribal braids. I’m known for being a neat freak when it comes to my parts with any braid style I’m doing lol! I provide a peaceful one-on-one service where your hair health and style come first. My brand is unique because it’s built on me- my hands, my story, my passion. I’m self-taught, always learning, always elevating. My work is personal, and every braid reflects who I am: precise and creative. I’m known for professionalism and a vibe with my clients. Right now I’m working on traveling more with my work and relocating to Arizona.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My good friend Erica and my big brother who is no longer with us Deontri.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my young self: you’re already enough, it’s ok to be different. Don’t shrink to fit in places that were never built for your light.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes the public gets all of me: the mean girl faces, don’t bother me face, the fun me, the sad me, etc. they gets it all okay lol!
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I stop trying to control everything and just let God be God. That quiet surrender that’s where my soul breathes. Oh and being in Arizona brings me peace.
