Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Sarah Pearce

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Sarah Pearce. Check out our conversation below.

Sarah, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A “normal day” for me doesn’t really exist, but here’s what it usually looks like. I start the morning with my double shot cinnamon roll latte, checking in with clients, reviewing my call calendar, and answering messages—because at any moment I could be heading to a birth. On-call life means one text can shift the whole day.

Then it’s on to running Trinity Doula Services: managing inquiries, scheduling, supporting my team, and keeping the business moving. In between, I switch into midwifery-student mode to work on assignments, protocols, and study requirements.

I usually have a prenatal or postpartum visit, or a consultation with a new family. Add in mom responsibilities, household tasks, and wrangling my three dogs—two Siberian Huskies and one Great Pyrenees/Alaskan Malamute mix—and the day fills up fast.

Through all of it, I stay ready to head to a birth at any time, whether it becomes a fast whirlwind or an all-day marathon. My work is unpredictable and demanding, but incredibly meaningful, and I show up fully for every family I serve.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sarah Pearce, and I’m the owner of Trinity Doula Services, one of the busiest doula agencies in the St. Louis area. I’m a Birth and Postpartum Doula, a former Licensed Practical Nurse with a background in pediatrics, and a student midwife working toward my Certified Professional Midwife credential.

Trinity Doula Services is built on providing comprehensive, continuous support to families—from birth and postpartum doula care to placenta encapsulation, childbirth education, and newborn care. What sets us apart is the combination of hands-on experience, personalized care, and a commitment to empowering families through every stage of pregnancy and early parenthood.

I’m passionate about strengthening families, mentoring birth workers, and creating a community where people feel informed, supported, and cared for. Every day, I get to do work that matters—supporting families through some of the most meaningful moments of their lives.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a young woman, I believed that as a young teen mom from rural southeastern Illinois, I’d never amount to anything more than a cashier at Walmart. I no longer believe that. Over the years, I’ve worked hard to build a career and a life I’m proud of. Today, I’m the owner of Trinity Doula Services, one of the largest and busiest doula agencies in St. Louis; a Birth and Postpartum Doula; a former Licensed Practical Nurse with a background in pediatrics; a student midwife working toward my Certified Professional Midwife credential; a placenta encapsulation specialist; and a mentor and trainer for new doulas. I’ve dedicated nearly a decade to supporting families through fertility, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care—and I continue to grow my skills and knowledge every day.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that has held me back the most in my life is being misunderstood or judged inaccurately because of my quirkiness—what I now know is part of being autistic. Sometimes my directness and strong desire for clear communication are misinterpreted as rudeness or conceitedness, and for years, I held back from fully expressing myself or asserting my ideas out of fear of how others might perceive me. Learning to embrace my authentic voice has been challenging, but it’s also been liberating and essential for both my personal growth and the work I do supporting families and guiding other birth workers.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, absolutely. The public version of me is the real me. I spent most of my life masking to make other people comfortable, trying to soften parts of myself so I wouldn’t be misunderstood. While I’ve learned how to adapt to any situation, I don’t mask anymore. What you see is what you get—real, honest, straightforward Sarah, all the time. Embracing that has been one of the most freeing parts of my life and my work.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Absolutely, I’m doing what I was born to do. Supporting families makes my heart sing—whether it’s breathing and swaying with a mom through every contraction, shushing a newborn while parents catch a nap, preparing placentas in between, or mentoring and building up new birth workers. Nearly ten years in this field has shown me that this is exactly where I’m meant to be, and I can’t imagine doing anything else.
