Life & Work with Annie Trachsel of St Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annie Trachsel.

Hi Annie , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began at age 11 when I was in a coma for 11 days and woke up with a broken femur and hip with my leg in traction! I had been hit by a drunk driver and this is where my story begins. Throughout the years have under gone several surgeries because my bones healing incorrectly. The left femur bone grew back together bowed and a significant bit longer than the right one. I went through so much Physical Therapy and several other surgeries over the course of my life that I became fascinated with how our bodies and nervous systems react, respond, and heal. It was when I discovered Yoga that I was able to feel safe in my body and peace in my heart and mind.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth road at all. My father left my mother and moved to Arizona and I did not have contact with him from the time I was 3 until I was 15 and My mother became a severe alcoholic which lead my brother and I to relying on each other a lot and never feelin safe in our home or at peace in our hearts and minds. Rejection and abandonment are hard to overcome.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the Owner of Blue Sky Yoga and a teacher there as well. I have been in business for 12 years now and we now run trainings to become Registered Yoga Teachers! 200 YTT! I offer bodywork as well. I also am a 625 hour LMT Licensed Massage Therapist. My own struggles have inspired me to want to help others be able to help themselves to feel safe, confident, and at ease in their lives . Movement is medicine and deep breathing stabilizes the mind and creates internal freedom for our nervous systems. This is key to creating peace in our lives and the world around us.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
The Celestine Prophecy was a great book that helped me learn to trust the process and keep going and look for insights and clues to living our best life and finding opportunities all around us.
