Life & Work with Brady Becker of Chesterfield

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brady Becker.

Hi Brady, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My name is Brady “BMan” Becker- the B stands for BEAST! I am a 15-year-old follower of God, varsity wrestler, bodybuilder, gym enthusiast, and content creator based in St. Louis, Missouri. My YouTube channel “Born 2 Be A BEAST” just hit 1k subscribers, but I have been creating videos since I was young. I started making YouTube videos when I was 7, doing toy and gaming videos over numerous channels. Growing up, my mom, Gillian Hughes, would record my sister and me doing things children do, unboxing toys, and playing video games and sports. In 2014, I took over the channel, and it became “Brady B Man,” where I uploaded videos of vlogs, toys, gaming, and even music as I tested the waters as a rapper for a short period. My 1st ever video was on Dec. 23, 2014, where my sister and I unboxed some toys in our rooms. In school, other kids thought it was cool that I had a channel that had over 100 subscribers and that I live-streamed on. But when Covid-19 hit, I took a new approach to things. I was in middle school then, and since I had much more time, I wanted to step up my content. Covid didn’t affect me as much as others, as I took the time away from social activities to work on content. During the lockdown, I used my time to learn how to edit using iMovie and worked on learning more about what it takes to build a channel. I wanted to get a fresh start and create higher quality videos while still keeping my old videos up on Brady B Man because I am proud of them and where I started. I ended “Brady B Man” with 131 subscribers, which took forever to grow! Furthermore, I launched my second channel, “B Dragon1,” where I posted only gaming content, playing games such as Overwatch, Fortnite, Call of Duty, and more. While creating content for this channel, I learned so much about content: how to edit and use different equipment like a webcam, a mic, and a capture card. But the most important thing I developed at that time was how to talk to an audience and how to entertain.

When schools and businesses started to open again, my dad allowed me to start weight training. Although I was just 13, I grew up in the gym and at bodybuilding events, as my parents were and still are competitive bodybuilders and coaches. I fell in love with the gym, but I was self-conscious about my body; I would always roll my pants higher than my belly button and never wear tank tops because I was embarrassed by how I looked. After about a year of training, I noticed muscles in places I thought I would never see, and my dad and I thought it would be a good idea to start a new YouTube channel to document my fitness journey. I believe that all teens should work out and train because it is a healthy habit to acquire and a great form of dedication. The gym had helped me develop confidence, and I wanted to inspire teens to start their fitness journey. So, with that idea in mind, I stopped posting gaming videos, and “Born 2 Be A BEAST” on YouTube was born! My dad and I created our 1st video in June 2022, and we continued to post our training sessions on this channel all summer until I began my first year of high school. That year, I joined the wrestling team, and as I started becoming dedicated to the sport, I shared vlogs, workout tips, tricks, and nutrition advice. In January 2023, I filmed a video with 10 tips for teens to start working out. I knew then that was what I was supposed to do with the channel, educate teens on nutrition, training, and more!  Several of my videos received a lot of views, and I published a vlog of how I prepared for a wrestling tournament, which got over 50k views- I was blown away!  From that point, my channel started to grow rapidly. As my following grew, and with some help from my parents, I began helping other teenagers who wanted to get strong and get in shape with custom training programs and healthy eating plans. Since I had always dreamed of competing in bodybuilding, when my gym, “House of Pain Gym Chesterfield,” announced they were hosting a competition in September of ’23 with a category for teens, I signed up and achieved this goal! I competed in the teen and open classes, placing 3rd in the teen class and 2nd in the open class! I continue to share my journey as a varsity wrestler and bodybuilder on Born 2 Be A BEAST.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a relatively smooth road, but I’m only 15 years old. I know that everyone’s road will have ups and downs, but I believe that God puts obstacles in our way so that we can overcome them and become stronger from them. My biggest struggles were sometimes having difficulty staying motivated when I would spend hours filming and editing a video only to post it and receive very few views or minimal positive feedback. Sometimes, I was stuck at a particular subscriber count and wondered if my channel would ever grow into what I had dreamed of. As a motivated young man, I always like to move forward and avoid getting stuck in a particular place. But I learned that is a part of success- feeling stuck in a certain place, creating a plan to create change, and always thinking, “What can I do or create that will get my videos pushed out to more people.” Having multiple channels over the years and experimenting with different niches, I learned much from my mistakes and what my audience wants to see. It’s super motivating, however, now that I’ve found out what works and have a system to get videos produced faster; the key to establishing and maintaining a loyal audience is consistent content. I have a lot to juggle with my studies, training, and varsity sports, but the gym, wrestling, and YouTube are my greatest passions, and I manage to keep up with it all; doing what I love is finally getting the response that I’ve been hoping for since I started YouTube. Anything can happen if you put your mind to something and never stop reaching that goal. It may take years and years, but eventually, it will happen. That’s one of my big messages to people who have a goal: never stop reaching for that goal. I’ve been doing YouTube for 8 years and finally saw the desired results. I never quit, although there were times when I wanted to. You shouldn’t either!

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a student, a varsity athlete, and a content creator/YouTuber. I am known for being a gym enthusiast and helping others with their fitness goals, particularly teens and other wrestlers. Around my high school, kids and teachers come to talk to me about the gym and nutrition. This is cool because it shows me that people want to talk to me about fitness to be more knowledgeable about the gym, achieve their goals, and even their dream physique. I am proud of hitting 1k subscribers on my YouTube channel in November of ’23. I am also proud of winning my 1st high school wrestling tournament as a freshman last year and 3rd place at my 1st varsity tournament. Overall, I am incredibly proud of the sudden growth of my training channel this year.  What sets me apart from others is my driving force, motivation to succeed, positive attitude, and desire to motivate and inspire others!
