Today we’d like to introduce you to Brennan Healey.
Hi Brennan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in a small town in California called Laguna Beach, well, small for California. I started working in a family-owned restaurant in Corona del Mar when I was 18 and worked my way up from busser to serving to bartending and management! Then I moved to another local business called Lupe’s and worked there for many years, helping them open and operate several new locations, training staff, and keeping my original location running smoothly. I moved to Missouri in July of last year with my daughter and took over the daily operations of Silo in February of 23! The small-town nature of being able to host people as friends and family and come to know them while providing them with a meal they can enjoy has always been something that calls to me!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There will always be obstacles to overcome, no matter what you choose to do with your life. I have always lived by the philosophy of making at least one person’s day better each day, and you will be happy! I get up at 4:30 every day, run with my dog, work out, and make breakfast for my family; if you start your day with smiles, you can handle anything the day throws at you. Moving 1,500 miles away from my family was difficult, but providing my daughter the life I want her to have will always be a priority number 1 for me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We here at Silo have always focused on providing great food and excellent service with a smile. We hand cut our Phillies from ribeye and hand bread each of our deep-fried items like zucchini or country-fried chicken. Our steaks are fresh, never frozen, charbroiled to perfection, and topped with homemade garlic butter! We keep a family atmosphere in the restaurant, which comes from caring about the people working beside us. Whether handwriting 40 Christmas cards so each person knows what they mean to you and the company or sitting in the hospital with an employee who has been with you for 26 years, you want them to treat the customers with that same feeling that we truly care.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Those people are amazing! Each person who walks in that door has a different story, and it is unique and unforgettable. Providing an extraordinary experience is more than just the food that comes out of the kitchen; it is also about the servers asking about your family and how everything is going. You can change an entire person’s day by giving them something to remember when they leave her; that is the magic that comes with working in the business.
