Life & Work with Cheryl Brooks of St Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Brooks.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My painful story of trauma, abuse, and deep grief led to spontaneous spiritual awakening and ultimately, mediumship. My earliest memories of anything “spiritual” are prophetic dreams. Throughout the years, I would just “know” things. I could sense the energies of people and places. I know now, I was also sensing the spirits of those who have passed. I was always very introverted & quiet. I mostly kept everything to myself. I didn’t fully understand or trust what I was feeling. I always felt very different and misunderstood. I still do.

My first husband passed away at the age of thirty-two, after a long battle with cancer. I was widowed young, with a son turning two. Four months later, my father passed away, unexpectedly. My two best friends and my entire support system…gone. Life was forever changed. The grief was devastating.

Years later, not knowing I had mediumship abilities, I had my first session with a medium by phone. As she was explaining how the session would work, she stopped and said, “Do you know you’re super psychic?” I said, “No, I knew I was a little intuitive.” That was my first ever confirmation from anyone else about my abilities. That session was so incredibly healing for me, connecting with my husband & father. I remember thinking that I would love to be able to do that for others, never imagining I ever could.

In late 2021, I had a spontaneous spiritual awakening. At that time, my spiritual gifts exploded. I went to Sedona a few months later. It was there I learned I was a medium, strongly having the abilities of all the “clairs.” Spiritual awakening pushed me to end a terrible, soul crushing second marriage and pursue my purpose. Nothing happened easily. I’ve spent the past several years healing. It wasn’t until last year that I officially took steps to hone my mediumship abilities.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
After working with mentors and training, I was strongly encouraged to start offering paid readings. I just went public in 2026 with mediumship. It’s not exactly a traditional vocation. There is tremendous judgment by many and dishearteningly, people I know. Although not easy at all, I won’t let it discourage me. Mediumship is a big part of my purpose to help heal others with grief. I am also strongly pulled to guide others on their own spiritual paths.

Social Media is a huge challenge for me. As a very introverted person, it’s hard to put myself out there in general. Exposing myself publicly, especially about talking to dead people, is extremely vulnerable!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My Mediumship sessions are 30 minutes & conducted via Zoom. Sessions are recorded and clients are provided with the recording. Often, there are things that come up in a mediumship reading that don’t make sense or don’t seem to apply in the moment. Those things are either remembered later or surface after the reading. Recordings are great for this.

One interesting thing about mediumship is that every medium receives their impressions uniquely to them and can receive different evidence or messages. Spirits aren’t human bodies with voice boxes. As a medium, spirits often give messages & evidence based off of the medium’s own “frame of reference,” because it’s energy that is being interpreted.

I am extremely compassionate and empathetic. I know the pain of deep grief after the loss of my husband and father. Since every medium works uniquely to them, I set the intention that whomever is meant to have a reading with me, will find me. I personally feel that one should be drawn to the energy of a medium to have a session with.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I am so grateful for the incredible spiritual and mediumship mentors that were divinely placed on my path. Their unwavering belief in me and encouragement allows me to continue, so that I can help others. I am also extremely grateful for the loyal friends that support me. It means more than I can express.
