Today we’d like to introduce you to Christa Riley.
Hi Christa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a licensed counselor working as a supervisor for the archdiocese at an all women’s substance recovery organization. Photography is my largest passion and hobby. I’ll always consider myself a semi-professional as I don’t seek supplemental income through photography. However my scope of practice is well versed in many areas. For example, I photograph people, families, events, bands, landscape, cityscape, animals, nature, and wildlife. On occasion, I dabble in Astro as well. My joy is to help others, lead teams, teach skills, and connect with others. My creative work is what helps me to stand out among other photographers. As a female photographer I’m blessed with presenting a comfort level that men simply don’t possess.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road to where I am today. Six years ago I faced a medical condition which caused an inability to walk for 2 years. I was unable to photograph and unable to work. I lost my home, my friends, and my sense of sekf-worth. Although my condition was beyond my control my social circle disappeared rather than providing me with support and empathy. Undergoing this is the force that guided me to become successful and self-sufficient in life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Professionally, I’m known for mental health counseling. Socially, I’m known for creative art photography. I enjoy taking any photoshoot and bringing perspective to it. I’m proud of everything I do and I fully believe that learning is a lifelong process.
Any big plans?
I am working towards becoming a director and making 6 figures in life. I would love to work with more families and further work with weddings and bridal events.
