Today we’d like to introduce you to David Brandon Thomeczek.
Hi, David Brandon; having you on the platform is an honor. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I had a different career trajectory; I studied air traffic control. After a few years of keeping airplanes separated, I knew that was not where my passions lay; I craved an opportunity for creativity. I needed to express myself and my vision of a more beautiful world. In search of this creative space, I soon found interior design. This discovery led me to join forces with a major home retailer in my native North Carolina; my creative talent was nurtured and challenged here. I found satisfaction and purpose in building artfully layered rooms and bringing clients’ visions to life. Anticipating your needs, combined with my passion for beauty and my editorial eye, I can create the home of your dreams. Design is a challenge, no matter the desired outcome, so allow me to share my evolving knowledge of current trends and classic elements working with me; each space will always be reflective, curated, and beautifully layered. After years in the industry, I continue to develop my design brand. Our family ties to Missouri provide the support and encouragement I need to explore my creativity in the Midwest. Jefferson City is a close-knit community with a soul; I am continually excited to bring my style to this beautiful city and state.
Can you tell us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth?
Owning and developing a brand and a business sounds fun, and it often is. Of course, there are challenges. Some days, you feel overwhelmed with decisions and ideas. Yet, some periods can feel stagnant. Learning to navigate a small business’s continual ebbs and flows can be challenging. Staying true to my brand while hoping for success and continued growth is a big focus.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Often, the first question I am asked is how does this work? Many people have never personally worked with an interior designer. Simply put, every project is different, so, ultimately, before committing to a project, I consider all the nuanced details I have become familiar with in my 15 years of practice and looking to elevate your home above the typical “builder beige” box. Let’s discuss your home’s potential. Do you want to throw some ideas around? Need a little confirmation? Or Inspiration? I’m here for you. We’ll review room layouts, talk color, and discuss other general design dilemmas. Let’s address those bookshelves needing layering, design a wall moment, or maybe it is time for new textiles. Let’s look at what you have on hand and how it can be best presented. Any time can be perfect for creating the home you’ve plastered across your Pinterest boards. I bring my years of renovation and design experience to my projects. Virtual planning and simple three-dimensional walkthroughs can ease anxieties and encourage creativity. I’ll collaborate with you and your architect and contractor while offering levels of service tailored to your needs. Together, we’ll move mountains or a few walls at the least. In the end, I offer uniquely tailored services. I am giving you a beautifully curated space worthy of a photo finish.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those just starting.
Figure out what your style and brand are. Remain authentic- authenticity is a powerful tool. If you can make it this far, stand on your merits and be confident in what you know.
