Life & Work with Finnegan Stewart

Today we’d like to introduce you to Finnegan Stewart.

Hi Finnegan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My parents always told me I could have everything I wanted, just not at the same time. Taking a page from that book, I’ve always put all of my attention and energy into one thing, pursuing it tirelessly until I reach my goal. The first mountain I chose to climb, was athletics. When I was 12, after watching the 2014 World Cup, I spontaneously decided that although I had absolutely no soccer talent or skill, I was going to become a collegiate athlete in the sport. This was no easy task. Starting from zero, being years behind all of my competition, I worked incessantly around the clock, on my one, singular focus, soccer. Fast forward years later, and I had received scholarship offers from top colleges around the country. Ultimately I choose to stay local my freshman year, and play for Lindenwood University. The summer before the season started, I used my free time while school was off, to experiment with one of my other hobbies, Music. The COVID-19 pandemic started, I was unable to compete, and realizing that I had reached and surpassed my goals in athletics, I chose to change my focus from sports, to music. I built a team of RIAA Certified Platinum engineers around me, and released my first song. Working on the social media promotion for this song, is what inspired me to pursue what I am today. I learned how social media is such a difficult and insurmountable obstacle, if you don’t have the acquired knowledge to use it. I released another song, but I started to realize that I enjoyed creating content for social media, more than I enjoyed creating records. This leads me to now. I’ve had the opportunity to work with huge brands like Snapchat and Ralph Lauren, reach and impact millions every single month, and pursue my present goal; to teach and inspire local businesses and individuals on how they can change their life with social media and marketing.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There are a lot of words I could use to describe my life, but I deleted easy from my vocabulary. It seems that at almost every fork in the road, I would choose the road less traveled. Catching up with my peers in athletics, was almost insurmountable. I remember the first summer, the tryout coaches said that in order to be an excellent player, you needed to be able to juggle the ball, that is to keep it off the ground, with both feet at least 100 times. My parents indulged me, allowing me to bring a ball inside our house, and it was at my feet nonstop. I went from being able to juggle the ball twice if I was lucky, to being able to juggle thousands of times in a row, with both feet, catching the ball with ease like I had an extra set of hands. I have encountered so much opposition, and pushback when pursuing every one of my goals. The greatest lesson I ever learned, was that everything is an opportunity. With the challenges being the greatest of them all. Because of my struggles and challenges, my victories were so much sweeter, and I’ve learned that no matter what others say about your goals, if you are determined, and have a singular focus, you can achieve success.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love creating and marketing content on the internet, along with helping others do the same. Because of my talent in social media and marketing, I’m able to get millions of views every month, with a $0 budget. Personally, I create mainly fashion, health, and skincare content, but I love filming and creating all types of digital media. I’m most proud of being able to take my knowledge and success, and use it to benefit those around me. It makes me sad to see how most local businesses and individuals are struggling with social media. My goal is to turn that around, and help St. Louis develop a thriving digital presence.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
My life has been filled with risks, and I feel that the only way to succeed is by taking enormous risks. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. When I quit soccer, having poured years of my life into it, and trading my almost certain future, for uncharted territory, almost everyone in my life thought I was crazy. Why would someone ever trade comfort for risk? Standing still, is moving backwards. When the initial struggle is almost impossible, you know the reward will be all the more satisfying.
