Life & Work with Jenny Lin of St. Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Lin

Hi Jenny, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
With a foundation in fine arts, I started with traditional painting and oil pastels before venturing into the realm of digital illustration. I’ve always been drawn to a minimalist aesthetic and elements of pop surrealism, working with thoughtful color palettes. I also have an extreme fascination with infographics, lists, and data—and I enjoy demonstrating that creativity can thrive within these elements or be expressed through them as an art form.

I immigrated to the States when I was very young, and from the start, I was passionate about art and creating. I’ve never been the kind of person who can stick to just one medium—whether it’s jewelry-making, bookbinding, or any other hands-on project, I’m ready to dive in.

In the beginning, Moon&June Studio was simply a place for me to experiment—no constraints, just pure exploration. But as I grow this business, I discovered the power of storytelling in every piece I created. Each one became an opportunity to capture a moment, an idea, or a narrative. While it remains my creative playground at heart, Moon&June Studio has evolved into a platform for sharing my pop surrealistic art with the world.

When I’m not drawing or illustration away, you’ll likely find me rock climbing, cooking, or enjoying the great outdoors. My artwork often mirrors my love for dreamy clouds and “sky stuff”. I enjoy guitar, baking, reality TV (maybe one day I’ll apply to be on the Amazing Race), and a variety of creative projects. Moon&June Studio is my way of sharing my creations to the world. You could say I’m a jack of many trade, and a master of…some? It’s all part of the fun, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been smooth. I felt scattered at first, unsure even had the confidence to share everything I was making. Eventually, I realized my love of creating is what truly defines Moon&June Studio, so I decided to embrace it. I focus on making what I genuinely love. Even now, working on different projects can be challenging, and my business still has room to grow. Art is mention to be shared, and I want to keep doing it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is defined by a distinct illustrative style, with a strong focus on color and imagination. Much of it falls under the pop surrealism category, which means I love blending whimsical, dreamlike elements with simple ideas. Pop surrealism lets me play with the boundaries between reality and fantasy. I am passionate about visual storytelling, so I aim to tell stories through each piece, whether it’s a simple illustration or a more elaborate project. I’m most proud of those moments when someone sees my work and feels an immediate connection to the story behind it.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Stay curious and allow yourself to experiment. It’s okay not to have everything figured out—try different things, learn from mistakes, and if you’re passionate, go for it. Be patient with yourself; your style will evolve naturally as you keep exploring.
