Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Dawn.
Hi Melissa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I lived broken for 13 years due to infidelity and more in my last marriage. Serving in ministry, helping others and attempting to protect my then husband, I kept a lot to myself and suffered alone. Only to lead to more emotional and mental brokenness. After awhile, my brokenness began to breed broken actions outwardly which led to me getting my lick back “an adulterous relationship”. I felt very entitled and no conviction at all because I endured so much over the years. That inappropriate relationship lasted for 4 years which was my breaking point! I was exactly where God wanted me. Completely broken, full of conviction with a repentant heart begging for healing & freedom. Little did I know, that was the beginning of my healing process which led to a ministry called “Heal Her Ministries” which would later evolve into “The Healing Room where I get to give strategies, tools & a blueprint on “How to heal” through practical & spiritual tools. My goal to offer healing to everyone in my reach. I live by my slogan…”Heal Responsibly”.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not, but definitely worth the wisdom and experience.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Maternal & Fetal Social Worker, Doula, CEO & Executive Director of H.E.R. Academy (Healing Everyday Realities Academy) where I mentor youth, teens & adults on social emotional awareness, and how to unpack past/present traumas in order to live in a healed place. Some are one on one Coaching sessions and others attend my bi-weekly mentee program. I also have the privilege of hosting The Healing Room every 2nd Monday of the month.
What were you like growing up?
I always got in trouble for speaking my mind, lol! I easily identified a problem and just knew my resolution was the right way. That has definitely translated over into adulthood.
I loooove to spend my recreational time doing something exciting & dangerous like zip lining, race cars, buggy jumping, etc. I’m a prankster and get a kick out of everyone’s reactions and I owe this part of me to my father. We always parked each other and it’s a HUGE part of my personality!
