Today we’d like to introduce you to Star Houze.
Star, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I didn’t set out to become “The STL Tour Guide Lady.” I just loved this city — its soul, its flavor, its people — and I wanted others to see what I see when I walk through St. Louis.
Every mural, every neighborhood, every family-owned spot tells a story. And for me, those stories matter. They remind us that St. Louis is more than headlines — it’s heart, hustle, and heritage. I started sharing little pieces of that on social media — food spots, festivals, hidden gems — and before I knew it, people were following along, exploring with me, and falling in love with the city all over again.
STL Tour Guide Lady grew out of that love. It became my way of giving back — supporting small businesses, celebrating local culture, and showing the world that our city is worth the visit, the investment, and the pride.
But this journey has also been about connection. It’s about building something that makes people feel seen — whether it’s a restaurant owner getting new customers or a family finding a new place to enjoy their weekend. It’s about community, and it’s about faith — in myself, in my purpose, and in the power of storytelling.
Every post, every video, every event I share comes from that same place of gratitude. I’m proud to represent St. Louis — not just as a tour and travel guide, but as a woman who believes in the strength and spirit of her city.
This is my home.
This is my purpose.
I’m Star Houze — The STL Tour Guide Lady.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The path hasn’t been easy. There have been people who didn’t see my vision and didn’t want to work with me. There have been people who have tried to minimize what I’ve set out to accomplish. I didn’t let it stop me. Every “no” has been countered by more “yes’s” than I can count.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At the heart of what I do is community connection. I use my platform to tell the stories about St. Louis— the food, the culture, the neighborhoods, and most importantly, the people. Through my brand, STL Tour Guide Lady, I highlight the beauty, creativity, and resilience that make this city special.
I create content that helps people discover St. Louis from a new perspective — from hidden gems and local eats to community events and small businesses that deserve more shine. I also collaborate with local organizations and brands to build partnerships that uplift the city and bring people from all walks of life together.
It’s more than just showing places to go — it’s about showing the heart of where we live. I want people to feel proud of St. Louis, to explore it, support it, and see it the way I do: full of history, flavor, and soul.
So, while I might be a “tour guide” or “Influencer” I like to think of myself more as a storyteller — someone helping others fall in love with our city, one story at a time.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My first experience traveling was at 6 years old all by myself. I traveled to Los Angeles, California to see my dad’s mother. That experience has groomed me into being a fearless traveler, always ready to set out on an adventure. It was an unforgettable experience.
