Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamika.
Hi Tamika, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m the owner of Crush Lashes & Beauty, and my journey has really been about passion, growth, and learning to bet on myself.
I always had a flare for fashion since I was young but I never really had a chance to fully embrace it until I was older and the feeling for beauty, lifestyle & fashion never changed..
Then one day after the birth of my twin daughters I knew I wanted to make them proud and also show them you can do anything you want no matter how old.
That’s how Creative Crush was created for 9ver 3 years I open my storefront in south St. Louis city.
I had my first ever experience of being an entrepreneur which eventually became a reality. We eventually closed the store and
I started in the beauty industry because I genuinely love helping women feel beautiful and confident. What began with a passion for lashes grew into something much bigger. Over the years, I’ve spent eight years perfecting my craft & educating myself eventually earning my esthetics certificate from Grabber Beauty school here in St. Louis Mo.
I’m also building relationships with clients, and learning what it takes to create an experience—not just provide a service.
Like many entrepreneurs, my journey hasn’t been a straight line. There were seasons where I had to step back, regroup, and rediscover my vision. Instead of seeing those moments as setbacks, I chose to see them as opportunities to grow. They helped me become a stronger business owner and gave me a clearer purpose.
Today, I’m rebuilding Crush Lashes & Beauty with intention. My brand is about more than lashes—it’s about helping women feel confident, elegant, and empowered. I want every client who sits in my chair to leave feeling like the best version of themselves.
As I continue to grow, I’m also passionate about inspiring and educating others who want to enter the beauty industry. This next chapter is about building a luxury brand, creating lasting relationships, and showing other women that it’s never too late to start again, dream bigger, and go after the life and business they truly want.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve experienced setbacks, self-doubt, and moments where I questioned whether I should keep going. Building a business takes more than talent—it takes consistency, patience, and the willingness to keep showing up, even when things don’t go as planned.
One of my biggest challenges was learning how to balance being the creative, the business owner, and everything in between. While trying to heal & batter with my cancer diagnosis recently in 2024.
There were times when I put more focus on perfecting my craft than building the business itself. I also had to overcome the fear of putting myself out there and being visible online, which is such an important part of growing a brand today.
But every challenge taught me something valuable. Instead of seeing setbacks as failures, I started looking at them as lessons. They’ve made me more intentional, more confident, and more prepared. Today, I have a much clearer vision for Crush Lashes & Beauty, and I’m building it with purpose, strategy, and a genuine passion for helping women feel beautiful and confident.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Crush Lashes & Beauty, I specialize in enhancing natural beauty through luxury lash services while creating an experience that helps women feel confident, polished, and seen. My goal has always been to provide more than a beauty service—it’s about giving every client a moment to invest in themselves and leave feeling like the best version of who they already are.
Over the years, I’ve also developed a passion for educating and encouraging aspiring lash artists. I love sharing what I’ve learned because I know how powerful it is to have someone believe in you as you’re building your dream career.
What I’m most proud of is my resilience. Even after facing challenges and taking time to regroup, I never gave up on my vision.
Instead, I came back with more experience, more intention, and a clearer purpose. I’m proud that I’ve continued to grow not only as a lash artist, but as a businesswoman.
I believe what sets me apart is that I genuinely care about people. I pay attention to the details, I listen to my clients, and I focus on creating natural, elegant results that fit each individual instead of following trends. We also focus on being able to wake & go without looking like I’m trying hard. I want every woman who sits in my chair to feel comfortable, valued, and confident.
As I continue growing Crush Lashes & Beauty, my vision is bigger than lashes. I’m building a brand that represents confidence, elegance, education, and empowerment for women, and that’s something I’m incredibly excited about.
How do you define success?
For me, success isn’t just about financial growth—although building a profitable business is definitely one of my goals. Success is waking up every day knowing I’m doing work that I’m passionate about, making a positive impact on the women I serve, and creating something that lasts.
I define success as growth. It’s becoming better than I was yesterday, continuing to learn, and having the courage to keep moving forward even when things aren’t perfect. It’s seeing my clients leave feeling more confident, watching other women I’ve encouraged or mentored succeed, and knowing that my business is creating opportunities not just for me, but for others as well.
Ultimately, success means building a brand with purpose, integrity, and excellence—one that people trust, remember, and feel connected to. If I can inspire confidence, create lasting relationships, and leave a meaningful impact while doing what I love, then I consider that true success.
