We’re looking forward to introducing you to Maare Rashaad. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Maare, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What battle are you avoiding?
The battle I’m avoiding is discouragement & that voice in your that tells you to give up. For me, my brand doesn’t have the option to fail; it has to work. Every now and then the enemy tries to creep in, to steal your joy and plant doubt, to make you feel like what you’re doing isn’t enough. But I refuse to let that win. I stay prayed up, I keep God first, and I remind myself that as long as I keep moving forward with faith and discipline, I can’t lose. The battle is real, but I choose to fight it every day with belief, consistency, and trust that my work is bigger than me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is JaMaare Luster, but most people know me as Maare. I’m the founder of Unforgettable Fittings, a streetwear brand and store that started from working out the kitchen to a one-room space and has now grown into a multi-room Clothing store/Warehouse. What makes Unforgettable Fittings special is that it’s more than just clothes, it’s a lifestyle and a statement. Every piece I drop has a story behind it. I built this from the ground up, and I stay consistent because I know I’m creating something bigger than me. Right now, I’m focused on expanding the brand, releasing new collections, and continuing to inspire people through fashion, music, and the journey of chasing your dreams without stopping.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that served its purpose was the side that liked going out, being in the mix, and hitting the club. That season taught me a lot about people, about energy, and about myself, but now I’ve outgrown it. These days, all I want to do is work, hustle, and grind to make everyone who doubted me feel me, and to make everyone who believed in me proud.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me patience, resilience, and faith in a way success never could. When you’re hurting or struggling, you have no choice but to dig deep and discover who you really are. It showed me how to keep going when nothing was going my way, how to appreciate small wins, and how to lean on God when I felt like giving up. Success feels good, but it can make you comfortable. Suffering made me sharp, focused, and unshakable.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies my industry tells itself is that success happens overnight or that it’s all about clout and who you know. People see the highlight reels on social media and think it’s easy but they don’t see the sleepless nights, the money you risk, or the times you have to believe in yourself when nobody else does. Another lie is that you have to follow the same formula as everyone else to make it. The truth is, originality and authenticity are what really last. A lot of brands chase quick trends, but I’m focused on building something timeless and unforgettable.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I was someone who never gave up on his vision, no matter how many obstacles were in the way. That I built something from nothing, trusted God through it all, and turned my dreams into reality through hard work and faith. I want my story to inspire people to chase their own goals, to believe in themselves when nobody else does, and to know that with discipline and consistency, you can create a legacy that lives on long after you’re gone.
