Meet Alexis Jaworowski of The Sarah Francois Team

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Jaworowski.

Alexis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Real estate is something that I’d been interested in for multiple years before taking the step to get into it. I was first exposed to real estate during my college years, where I worked as a Leasing Consultant in a student housing apartment complex. I loved sharing my knowledge about the property and giving tours to prospective renters. After college, I worked several random jobs until landing a job that was useful for my degree in Hospitality and Event Management. I started working in the travel industry for a large company in St. Louis in October 2019. As I got more integrated into my role, I found that it was not what I wanted to be doing long term. I started thinking more seriously about real estate but didn’t act on it until I was furloughed in March 2020 due to COVID-19.

Shortly after being furloughed, I was laid off and thus, I had a lot of free time and decided to use that time to study for the real estate exam and get my license. While I was studying, I found a wonderful agent who hired me to be her Administrative Assistant. This allowed me to learn a lot about real estate firsthand before becoming an agent officially. I felt like I was steps ahead of other new agents because of the experience I gained while I was getting licensed.

Now, I have had my license since March 2021 and I still work with the agent who hired me as an admin. She has taught me a lot and I am so grateful that she has been an amazing mentor.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I spent A LOT of time studying before taking the exam because I wanted to know everything and all the material as best as I possibly could. I passed the national exam on the first try but had to retake the Missouri portion, which I luckily passed the second time. I definitely regret not taking the exam sooner. It was definitely challenging but I feel like I could have passed it sooner and that I freaked myself out because everyone warns you how hard it is. I wish I would’ve gotten it done sooner so that I could have started working sooner. Now, most of the potential clients I have are first-time homebuyers who are intimidated by this current market (who could blame them?!) and have decided to hold off on buying for now. It definitely takes time to really get going in real estate but I have closed a few deals and have more clients I am working with now. I absolutely love it and feel like I have found my true passion! I have never loved a job more. It is so rewarding when you can help someone find the perfect house for them and I always feel so honored to be part of the process.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Sarah Francois Team?
I am part of a small team at Keller Williams Realty St. Louis, called The Sarah Francois Team. I started working with Sarah in September 2020. We are Realtors and specialize in working with buyers, sellers, and investors. Sarah has taught me to go above and beyond for our clients in order to get them the best deal possible. We are both from the St. Louis area and truly pride ourselves on knowing the local markets and how available we are for our clients. One thing I really like to focus on is educating people about the home buying process and what homeownership entails. My social media is the biggest way I like to stay top of mind and relevant. I revel in the content I share and being a resource that others find very helpful, especially first-time buyers.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is going with my dad to the various St. Louis neighborhoods and “helping” him with rehabbing homes. Seeing the old houses and the unique features that they had was something I really loved. I wasn’t that much of a help to my dad but I definitely learned some DIY tricks and how to use some tools, which is something very handy in homeownership. I think being exposed to different types of houses and areas piqued my interest and I definitely think that going along with him was an integral part of where my love for real estate comes from.
