Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Deschler.
Amy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After working in the beauty industry for more than 12 years as a hairdresser, I was often asked where to go for a good spray tan. Aside from the large chain tanning salons—most of which focused on tanning beds or automated booths—St. Louis didn’t offer many options for custom airbrush spray tans. As I began researching further, I realized how much sunless tanning has in common with my work behind the chair. There’s a real science to both, especially when it comes to determining which tones and colors will look best on each individual client.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was a wild start. In January 2020, I began renovating my space, and just two months later the world shut down due to COVID. I was terrified, but I was also determined to make it work. I held onto a positive mindset, even with the countless comments from people who thought I was crazy for opening a business during a pandemic. Many doubted that a sunless tanning salon could survive such uncertain times—but we did! In the end, I believe many beauty-industry businesses came out stronger. After being cooped up at home, people were eager to get out, take care of themselves, and do things that made them look and feel better

I am the owner of Amy Jane Beauty + Bronze, where we specialize in custom airbrush spray tans tailored to each client. Every tan is carefully mixed for the individual’s skin tone and desired look. We take pride in truly getting to know our clients and creating a comfortable, safe, and fun environment for everyone who walks through our doors.
My favorite part of what I do is being able to share so many meaningful moments with our clients. Whether it’s for a wedding, baby shower, special event, or simply a confidence boost, meeting people from all different walks of life brings me so much joy. Every client has a unique story, and even though we’re all different, there’s always something we can relate to and connect over.
What makes you happy?
Kindness makes me happy. Even the smallest gesture or compliment has the power to change someone’s entire day. I love helping others feel comfortable and confident in their own skin—it’s one of the most rewarding parts of my job.
