Meet Brittany Henricks of Main Key Realty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Henricks.

Hi Brittany, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into real estate really started with a love for business, people, and the idea that there had to be a better way to serve both clients and real estate professionals.

Over the years, I worked to build my knowledge in business, accounting, education, and real estate, but some of my greatest lessons came simply from doing the work—helping families buy and sell homes, navigating difficult transactions, learning from mistakes, and understanding what agents truly need to succeed.

Eventually, that journey led me to become the Broker/Owner of Main Key Realty, an independent Missouri brokerage that I’m incredibly proud to have grown alongside my mom and business partner, Jamie Bahr. What started as an idea has grown into a company with dozens of agents serving Jefferson County, the St. Louis region, Southeast Missouri, and beyond. We’ve also expanded into real estate education through Main Key School of Real Estate and have continued developing training, technology, and resources to help our agents build sustainable careers.

One of the things I’m most proud of is that we’ve stayed focused on being a community-centered, relationship-driven company even as we’ve grown. Real estate is constantly changing—technology, AI, market conditions, regulations and consumer expectations are all evolving—and I believe successful businesses have to be willing to evolve with them without losing the human relationships that made them successful in the first place.

Today, I wear a lot of hats: broker, business owner, REALTOR®, educator, wife and mom. My goal isn’t simply to sell more houses. I want to build something that creates opportunities for other people—whether that’s helping a family open the door to their next home, helping an agent create a career they’re proud of, or finding new ways for our company to positively impact the communities we serve.

Looking back, I don’t think there was one big moment that got me here. It was a lot of small decisions, long days, risks, lessons, and continuing to move forward when I didn’t necessarily know exactly what the next chapter would look like.

And I still feel like we’re just getting started. ❤️

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not—and I think the challenges have been just as important to my story as the successes.

Building a business, especially in real estate, comes with constant change. Markets shift, interest rates change, technology evolves, regulations change, and what worked a few years ago may not work today. As a broker and business owner, I’ve had to learn how to adapt quickly while still making decisions that protect our clients, our agents, and the company.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to grow without losing who we are. As Main Key Realty expanded, I realized that growth isn’t simply about adding more agents or selling more homes. It means creating better systems, developing leaders, investing in training and technology, and building a culture where people genuinely feel supported.

There have also been plenty of personal sacrifices. Owning a business doesn’t always fit neatly into normal working hours—especially while raising three kids and trying to be present for my family. I’ve had to learn that I can’t do everything myself, that asking for help is a strength, and that sometimes the best thing you can do for your business is build a team you trust.

We’ve experienced difficult transactions, changing markets, financial decisions, growing pains, and plenty of moments where I’ve questioned whether I was making the right decision. I’ve made mistakes along the way too, but I’ve tried to treat each one as an opportunity to learn and improve.

Probably the biggest lesson has been becoming comfortable with uncertainty. You don’t have to have the entire road mapped out—you just have to be willing to keep learning, adjusting, and moving forward.

The road hasn’t always been smooth, but I wouldn’t change that. The difficult seasons have made me a better broker, business owner, leader, and person—and they’ve helped shape Main Key Realty into what it is today.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Main Key Realty is an independent, Missouri-based real estate brokerage built around a simple idea: real estate should be personal, local, and centered around the people we serve.

We help clients with residential real estate, land, investment properties, commercial real estate, new construction, and everything from first-time home purchases to complicated situations involving estates, inherited properties, investors, and families who need guidance figuring out their next move. Our agents serve Jefferson County, the greater St. Louis area, Southeast Missouri, and surrounding communities.

What I believe sets Main Key apart is that we’re large enough to provide our agents and clients with modern technology, marketing, education, and resources, but we’re still small enough to know each other. We aren’t trying to become a faceless national real estate company. Our local roots are one of our greatest strengths.

Our tagline, “Your Community. Your Home. Your Key.”, really represents what we want the brand to stand for. We want people to see Main Key and think about more than a For Sale sign. We want them to think about a company that is invested in the community and will still be here after the transaction closes.

I’m especially proud of the culture we’ve created for our agents. Real estate can be an incredibly independent career, but I don’t believe agents should have to build their businesses alone. We provide training, mentorship, technology, marketing tools, continuing education and an environment where agents can ask questions and continue developing professionally. We also created Main Key School of Real Estate because education has become an important extension of our mission.

Being recognized as Best Real Estate Agency in Jefferson County has been incredibly meaningful to us because our reputation within our own community matters more to me than simply being the biggest company. We’ve grown to dozens of agents and expanded our reach, but I never want growth to come at the expense of the relationships and values that got us here.

We’re also embracing where the industry is headed. Technology and AI are changing real estate rapidly, and rather than being afraid of that change, we’re investing in tools that allow our agents to work smarter and provide an even better client experience. At the same time, I firmly believe technology should enhance relationships, not replace them. Buying or selling a home is often one of the largest financial and emotional decisions someone will make, and there will always be value in having an experienced professional sitting beside you advocating for your best interests.

Ultimately, Main Key Realty isn’t just about opening doors to houses. We’re about opening doors to what’s next—for our clients, our agents, their families, and the communities we call home.

That’s the brand I’m most proud of building.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is my family, the people around me, and building something that has a positive impact beyond myself.

My family is at the center of everything I do. Being a wife and a mom to three kids has shaped the way I look at success. I love growing a business and setting big goals, but I also want my children to see that success isn’t only measured by money or accomplishments. It’s about how you treat people, the relationships you build, the opportunities you create for others, and what you leave behind.

That carries directly into Main Key Realty. The people who choose to work with us matter to me. Our agents aren’t numbers, and our clients aren’t transactions. They’re people making major life decisions, building careers, supporting families, buying their first homes, selling homes filled with memories, investing in their futures, and sometimes navigating incredibly difficult circumstances.

Community also matters deeply to me. I believe locally owned businesses have a responsibility to give back to the communities that support them. I want Main Key to be a company people recognize not simply because they’ve seen our signs, but because they’ve seen us show up.

I’m also passionate about education and creating opportunities for other people. Whether that’s teaching an agent something that changes their career, helping someone understand real estate, or encouraging someone to take a chance on themselves, there’s something incredibly rewarding about watching another person succeed because you helped open a door for them.

Ultimately, what matters most to me is legacy—but not necessarily in the traditional sense. I want to build a life and a business that my family can be proud of, that created opportunities for other families, and that left our little corner of Missouri better than we found it.

At the end of the day, houses will be bought and sold and markets will change. People are what matter.
