Today we’d like to introduce you to Donovan Crowder
Hi Donovan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started podcasting 5 years ago after a failed attempt at trying to get an internship with a local radio station. I first started the journey with a podcast called Triple Dub Podcast. I hosted the show along with my co-host the Twins. We spoke on topics relevant to entertainment, politics, and general topics from our perspective. We had a great time with Triple Dub but with work schedules and other obligations we had to come to an end. I always wanted a cannabis based podcast, so I started Too T3rpd with my former co-host Ryan Risky Fargo. We first started the podcast with hopes of just being able to smoke free weed. It quickly turned into a cannabis culture podcast focused on humanizing and to stop the stigmatization of cannabis. Home Growers, corporate cannabis facilities, dispensaries, and all kinds of people in cannabis culture have come on to Too T3rpd to tell their story. Within the last two years, I have started to expand outside of podcasting and have started my journey into improv and acting. I graduated from the Improv shop about a year ago and have been apart of some amazing teams and shows. This has also paved the way for me to be able to produce and act in some sketches with my friends (L Crew) that we hope to turn into some great opportunities for ourselves.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No journey worth traveling is smooth, fortunately I have a all terrain mindset. Deciding to have a cannabis podcast in today’s time seems like it would be easy to generate revenue. unfortunately with cannabis laws not being federally legal companies are hesitant to take the risk of advertising due to all the grey area in cannabis laws. Im also going the independent route with podcasting and producing my content. Its taken more time then i first imagined this journey to be, but the more I go I start to understand everything is happening when its meant to.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At this point i mainly want to be known as a entertainer. Im a podcast host, I do improv/acting, and Im a producer. I honestly cant pick one because i want to be great at all 3 talents. I believe what sets me apart from others is my work ethic. I come from a labor background and what most people look at as work in the entertainment industry I look at as fun and relaxation.
