Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Stahlschmidt.
Hi Gabrielle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I studied at Missouri Baptist University, where I received a double bachelor’s, with education degrees specializing in music instruction, vocal health/production, and the psychology of learning. Music has been more of a lifestyle than a hobby for me; I have a lifetime of experience performing, recording, and writing music in a variety of genres! Having been immersed in vocal performance for my entire musical career, I have had many amazing opportunities to perform with a wide variety of notable organizations. I have performed in choirs, acted in theater shows, competed in vocal competitions, sang with orchestras + bands, and have also written and recorded my own album with producers in Nashville, TN! It is incredibly rewarding for me to pass on the connections and the performance knowledge I have gained to my students.
My love for teaching grew naturally out of my passion to encourage and inspire people on a 1:1 level; music is such a uniquely personal gift and through it, I get to encourage and empower strong, independent voices in amazing ways! It is my goal that my studio provides the foundational techniques required for healthy, intentional singing, advances a love for music, and ultimately fosters a rooted confidence in each student as they discover (and own!) their unique voices.
Through music, it is my desire to empower the next generation of strong voices. This is achieved through positive mentorship, providing a safe place for all students to explore their gifts, offering accessible and innovative extra-curricular opportunities for musical growth + collaboration, and equipping each student with the necessary tools to use their voices, both musically and personally, in creative, life-giving ways!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think everyone can acknowledge 2020 as a tough year, but out of it came some amazing opportunities! We were able to adapt by teaching online classes, hosting virtual concerts, and creating the Own Your Voice Academy which, in addition to our music studio, serves local and international students with continuing music education and peer networks.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Gabrielle Stahlschmidt Studio Of Music is not your typical studio: We go above and beyond for our students by offering them the unique opportunity of performing in large-scale concert venues, backed by a professional band, which is invaluable when it comes to building confidence and exploring musical and professional performance goals!
In addition, we offer professional recording services for the purpose of album creation and audition submissions. We also prepare our students for major auditions including The Fox, The Muny, The Voice, Opera Theater of St. Louis, Union Avenue Opera, and America’s Got Talent. Many of our students have gone on to perform with The Muny, Stages, COCA, Destination Broadway, and more!
Extra-curricular online workshops + intensives are offered through our international music school, Own Your Voice Academy; each 60 + minute class offers the chance to explore various facets of vocal performance and technique, genre styling, music technology, composition, and more.
We teach each of our workshops and masterclasses in conjunction with a network of professional educators and artists! We also offer theater and college audition workshops and provide studio field trips to area performances and other fun, relevant activities for team-building and community.
We also began an inspirational clothing line called Well Worn Words Co.! Our collection perfectly encapsulates the heart + mission behind what we hope to offer our community, which is to truly ignite powerful voices – in music + life.
We are passionate about our belief that your voice is valuable and worthy of being heard, and it’s essential to us that we are able to cultivate a rooted confidence in the potential power of your voice in this world. However, we also believe that words alone aren’t enough to accomplish the change we want to see, so we turn our words into action by donating a portion of our sales directly to local charities!
