Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Ivy.
Hi Jada, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Art has always been something I have had in my life. As a self-taught artist, my work has always stood out. In college, I studied music production at the Los Angeles Film School. I left my career in music to take a chance at art. With my second job at Target, I became known for drawing pictures of customers and co-works. This led to my first exhibit Home Lez. A cardboard display of furniture made out of recycled materials. Target provides all the cardboard needed for this project. This was the start of my business JadasArt.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting any business or career always has its bumps in the road. As a self-taught artist, I had a lot of doubt about being taken seriously in the art industry. I allowed my work to speak for itself and created an audience of supporters who loved what I created. This allowed me to get a job at Bruno David Gallery. Even with the doubts and fears of my work not being accepted by a-lister artist I still pushed through all that. Being consistent with my work allowed me to now be the assistant director of Bruno David gallery. Breaking the barriers of the idea of what self taught artist can do and the level of success they have.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
JadasArt Studio defines art as a universal lens of human creativity. My work is an artistic expression of pushing the envelope of what modern-day objects can look like. We want to elevate the community consciousness of art in a futuristic eye. We create this authentic value through sculptures and paintings. When creating these pieces, we change the wave link of thinking and how you see things—a way of opening your mind to a new version of the world.
What matters most to you?
What matters to me is creating something beautiful for this world. I want to give people a lens of what I can see to experience life and its creations through my eyes. I plan to bring the concept of creativity through paintings and sculptures. We aim to open a client list and build an audience in the art industry with top-tier artists showcased in St.Louis. Creativity is our gift, and I want to share that gift with this world.
