Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake Ward.
Hi Jake, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always wanted to tell stories ever since I was younger. My career paths have changed back and forth but the constant in all of that was the desire and need to tell stories.
I’m currently a 23 year old freelance videographer/video editor in STL and want to help clients tell THEIR stories. I have produced content for Webster Groves Business Department for local businesses in our amazing city.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road, especially in the video production industry. However, there are challenges in any industry you find yourself in the only way I maintain sanity is by having a good sense of humor about things not going my way. And also surrounding yourself with people I love.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The thing that sets Jake Ward Films apart from other freelance videographers or editors in the STL area is… Me. I bring my experiences in sales and marketing jobs to better communicate with clients about what they need. Not what I want. Communication seems to be a skill highly neglected in the video production industry and I strive to bring that to the table as best I can as I do video production skills. I’m most proud of seeing happy clients whenever I deliver their final product. Knowing that something I created will help them grow.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love that STL is a little big city if that makes sense. Not nearly the size of LA, New York, or even Chicago. However, I believe that’s where its charm comes from. As well as all the culture the city has to offer like The Hill, the sports we offer, the Arch, the TOASTED RAVIOLIS… I mean come on. Delicious.
What I least like about the city goes hand in hand with what I love. The fact that it is a little big city doesn’t provide as much opportunity for someone in my field.
