Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake Wisdom.
Hi Jake, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Started as a side project business while working full time. I will always love working hands on / various projects vs repetitive action. General Contracting avails itself to diverse interest.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Developing a reputation that provides steady work throughout the year takes time- there have been moments in winters where I consider giving it up for regular employment.
Finding dependable labor has been an Achilles heel- several guys have only lasted 3-5 days though I’ve never fired or said a harsh word to any of them, even starting at $160 per day it seems most just can’t handle the physical /mental aspects of the work.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Specializing in most types of finishes.
While many contractors prefer to specialize in a particular aspect – Sheetrock, painter, tile setter, wood floors, etc. – I take pride in experience and meticulous results of all decorative finishes.
The Wise Guys Built brand stands on customer satisfaction- always willing to work with the client until 100% satisfaction is achieved.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
That my business model / mentality is not built for speed or production – so if a client is in a hurry or trying to schedule multiple contractors such as apartment buildings – we’re not going to be a good fit for each other.
