Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Sanders.
Hi Jen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I received my Hotel & Restaurant Management degree from Mizzou and spent most of my early career managing restaurants and running kitchens for different companies.
White Box Catering is a partnership between owners Courtney, the former catering director of Whitebox Eatery, and Jen, the former general manager of Whitebox Eatery. Since 2018 Courtney and Jen have optimized the catering game in St. Louis to bring you an effortless process from order to delivery with an unmatched service for your next meeting or event. We believe in yummy food and delivering an outstanding customer experience.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The restaurant/catering industry is never always smooth! Lots of bumps in the road along the way. Staffing is always an on going battle. Courtney and I have built a team of 10 employees who man our day to day in the kitchen. Our first few years in business we said yes to everything to grow our business-that can be exhausting. Lots of long, hard hours were put in especially in our first few years to help us grow. Covid was challenging for everyone but we pivoted and maintained business through switching to more in home deliveries vs businesses that were currently closed or working from home.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We see our industry growing! There’s always going to be meetings and parties and celebrations and big life events and you need yummy food and excellent service for all of these! 🙂
