Meet Joseph Harvath of JMH Law Firm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Harvath.

Hi Joseph, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my professional career as an Auditor for one of the area’s largest CPA Firms. After a couple years of doing that, I realized that I wanted to switch careers to something where I felt I could make more of a difference in people’s lives, so I went to law school. During Law School, I spent time interning with a Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and also working in the SLU Law Criminal Defense Clinic providing criminal defense representation to members of our community with low income, and often mental health issues. I used the knowledge and experience gained there to open JMH Law Firm in 2012. Since 2012, I have represented thousands of people throughout the State in various municipal, State, and Federal Courts for everything from traffic tickets, to murder charges. Our firm has grown, and we now have 3 Attorneys currently working with the Firm, with another 2 set to start next month, in addition to our staff. We have extensive experience in representing people charged with all types of various criminal offenses. We use my background in Finance and Accounting, to provide a very detailed approach to examining all aspects of our client’s cases, to ensure we obtain the best outcome possible. We understand that often times, people charged with crimes feel as if everyone is working against them, and they have no one to talk to. We pride ourselves in guaranteeing our clients can feel comfortable that they finally have someone on their side, working in their best interests to fight for their rights.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a Law Firm is never easy, and is not for everyone. It takes a lot of time, passion, willingness to take on risk, and emotional strength. I have had some great mentors along the way who have given me the confidence to make it to where I am today. And I do my best, to provide that same mentorship to other Attorneys who may not have the same experience I have. I do not take that for granted.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We have been representing members of our community in all levels of criminal defense since 2012. Whether someone has a traffic ticket, felony charges in State Court, or more serious charges in Federal Court, we’ve done it all. We have experience in just about any type of case you can imagine, and some that you couldn’t even imagine. That is what makes the job fun, even though some of the charges may be the same, every single case we handle is different from the others, which keeps it exciting. We have extensive experience in handling all types of cases, but I would say that the cases people hire us for the most on are DWI cases. We have extensive trial experience in these. People do not realize, but a DWI charge can result in 2 or even 3 separate trials for the same case. We represent people for the criminal charges, the appeal of their license suspension for refusing the breathalyzer, the appeal of a license suspension for a failed breathalyzer, and in some cases the appeal of the license suspension for refusing the breathalyzer, and then a separate trial to appeal the license suspension if a warrant was obtained for a blood test, after the breathalyzer was refused.

Most importantly, we pride ourselves in honest and aggressive representation. We cannot guarantee any outcomes in any cases, but what we can and do guarantee is that our clients will never complain about getting ahold of us. Each and every client of ours has not only my cell phone number, but the cell phone of all the attorneys in our firm. And we guarantee to work our butts off for anyone who retains our services.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always outgoing and active. I was always looking for friends to play with, and preferred to do so outside when possible. I played a lot of tennis, and went to college on a Tennis Scholarship. Tennis has taught me that the only person I have to blame when I lose is myself, and instilled in me the value of always trying to improve myself in all aspects of life, regardless of the situation I may be in.
