Meet Juliana Daquila of St. Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliana Daquila

Hi Juliana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Ever since I was a little girl I have been ~obsessed~ with taking photos and editing them (Does anyone else remember the cringy Picnic editing website? I was their biggest fan lol), I would carry my digital camera around with me EVERYWHERE. In college I decided to purchase my first camera and asked anyone and everyone if I could take their photos so I could practice. I slowly started to gain a following on social media and got to meet SO many amazing clients, some who are now really good friends of mine! Shout out to the ones that have been with me since the beginning :’) I never would’ve believed you if you told me 10 years ago that this is where I would be today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Yes and no. I think I have always had a creative eye for things. which has helped in the photography world. However, deciding to jump into this career path full-time has not always been easy. Being consistent and confident is something that I think plays a huge role in this job. It’s easy to get discouraged when you see you’re not getting as many bookings as the ones around you, or seeing a new and upcoming photographer take off quickly when it took you several years. But, having a supportive community and remembering that nobody is ‘you’ is something to remind yourself of. I always believe that things will work out the way that they are supposed to!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in weddings, couples and family photography. I find joy in any and all (!!) session types because they are each different in their own way! After becoming a mom in 2024, I have really really started to love capturing family and in-home newborn sessions. There’s just something so special about being able to provide memories for families that they can cherish forever. I’m most proud of going full-time and being determined in this business to be able to stay home with my one year old son while still providing for our family.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I believe that success is having a good support system and people that love you. As cliche as it sounds, I would not be where I am or have the motivation to do what I do if it weren’t for my husband, son and countless friends + family that are always supporting me and pushing me to do more. Having the support and outpouring love from others is what makes you succeed in life. Sure, you can do things on your own but building friendships and relationships with those around is important.
