Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamdenboy & Kyraboo.
Oh, how we got started – this question is always a complicated one, so to speak because depending on what one would define “as getting started”, the stories can vary but let me explain.
I remember Shannon (Dad) and I making a bet when Kyra was younger – matter of fact, we always tell people that Kyra is the reason we are here today. When she was younger, she loved to watch YouTube and was fascinated with a particular channel. One day she says, “I want to make videos like him,” and I replied, “Okay,” but not with any real plans to follow through (because I had no clue on what that all entailed). Well, Shannon knew I was a little uneasy about the whole idea of starting a YouTube channel and attempted to “call my bluff,” but in my efforts to not let him win, I did the unthinkable. In November of 2017, I created the channel and named it “Kamdenboy & Kyraboo” (which are nicknames that were given to them by their dad when they were babies), created a video in December and posted it on January 25, 2018.
After releasing our initial video, I realized that my children were naturals around the camera and had an idea to take things a step further so I enrolled both kids in one of the local modeling agencies. At that time, Kyra was 4 years old, and Kam was just 18 months old, but they were the cutest kids and ready for the camera. About 6 months into our contract, Kyra booked her first commercial with H&R Block (in January 2020).
It was our thought that her journey would begin (after the commercial) because immediately after that, she was picked for a talent convention in Los Angeles, California, but the Covid-19 Global Pandemic halted that. In June 2021, we followed up on the convention call (from 2020), auditioned, and now signed with an agent from Los Angeles.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A smooth road… absolutely not, but we all know the journey is what builds character and perseverance, and although they are still young, it is our hope that they take the values of the process with them as they navigate life (later on).
Our YouTube channel started very slow; I mean, there were months that we would get little to no views at all, but we took those “blows” in stride. Throughout the process – there were a lot of long nights, unanswered questions, and learning curves (because of the ever-changing trends of technology), but we remained consistent. I knew that if we can make it through the pandemic, we could sustain a lot in this industry. I’m super grateful that we had the strength to see it through.
These sentiments hold true for their acting careers too!
There have been several auditions but very few callbacks, but as long as they enjoy it, we will still work and wait for those perfect roles for Kyra and Kamden. Honestly, we believe that that is our job as their parents to support them in their dreams, and maybe one day, you’ll hear about the movie: Kamdenboy & Kyraboo.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In short: we make videos.
…but the difference in our videos is that we pride ourselves in making fun entertaining videos that are age-appropriate, educational, and hopefully inspiring. We do recognize that technology and social media are used very often and at a very early age, so we want to create content that allows viewers to experience life with us. Ultimately, we want parents to know that their kids can watch a Kamdenboy and Kyraboo video with no worries.
We’ve worked with a lot of the biggest brands in the toy industry: Barbie, Hot Wheels, Mini Brands, Disney, WWE, etc.
Our business name/brand is “KB Media”; everything we do/has created is centered around Kamdenboy & Kyraboo. Kyraboo and Kamdenboy were merely clever nicknames from a proud dad; now they are a brand. We have adopted the “KB Culture” so much so on YouTube, I am known as KB Mom, and Shannon is known as KB Dad.
We are most proud of our work together as a family, it is really an in-house operation. KB Mom is the setting up the deals, KB Dad is the brains behind the ideas, and the kids bring it all to life in front of the camera.
Our family structure and our work ethic sets us apart from others. We give brands the full experience of working with a family that they can rely on and trust.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Yes! We are exceedingly grateful for people who sacrifice their time to show us unwavering love and support. There isn’t an act of kindness that goes unnoticed; whether it was a smile and a head nod to make us feel welcomed in rooms we were not quite familiar with, collaborating on content, or a simple like subscription or share – we thank you.
Kamdenboy, Kyraboo, and the KB Family would not be where we are today if we didn’t put our all in developing the brand we believe in!
Albeit cliche, the saying has proved true for generations, “You can do anything that you put your mind to and work for!”
We are still active on most digital and steaming platforms. You can catch new (and older) content with Kamdenboy and Kyraboo on YouTube, Amazon Prime, Roku Friends, and Family, Happykids.TV, and Ryan & Friends.
Also, for an added surprise, you can see Kyra in Season 2 of the ABC hit show, “Abbott Elementary”; she plays the role of a student in Ms. Barbara’s class – just look for her two puffs!
And like we always say, “…remember kids, be sweet”.
