Meet Katie Chacon of Wright City, MO

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Chacon

Hi Katie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been singing and dancing since as early as I can remember. I always loved performing on stage and learning new things. When I turned eleven I auditioned for the kids worship team at a church here in Missouri. Then when I was thirteen I auditioned for the youth group team and was so excited when I made it. About two years later when I was 15 my sister and I started our country music duo “Monoc.” We recorded several songs and traveled to Nashville and opened up for artists like NF and KJ 5-2 to name a couple. We gained a lot of experience and knowledge from that time and at 19 we decided that it was best and easiest to stop there. My sister and I both got married and both moved away so it would have been extremely tough to keep the band together. In the time of our country music era, I never stopped singing at my church as one of the main worship leaders. My responsibilities included leading worship, adding people to the team, preparing slides for the weekend and much more. Fast forward, I’m now 20 getting married to my wonderful husband Dakota, at the church we met backstage at. He joined the United States Army and our first duty station was Ft. Hood Texas. So off we went on our married adventure. Shortly after we got there we became apart of a church out there where I continued to lead worship. He deployed within 2 months of us being married. Fast forward 2 years later and we had our next assignment. Fort Stewart Georgia. We headed to Georgia and this is where I became a mom to two beautiful little girls. Kobie Reign and Rio Vel. Although I became a mom my passion for music didn’t stop there. We became apart of an incredible ministry at Compassion Christian Church in Savannah Georgia. The team was incredible and so loving. I still say to this day we miss that church and team so much. My husband and I agreed however we needed a change. With now 3 total deployments in 4 years in the Army, and now with a family; it was time. 4 years in Georgia went by way to fast, but were some of the best years of our lives. So my husband accepted a job in the Army National Guard which brought our story back home to Missouri where most of our family resides. We knew our girls needed our family most in this time of their lives. We’ve been back a year and a half and it still doesn’t feel like we’ve been back for so long. However with a move comes new opportunities. I had always known that I wanted to somehow help out at other churches. I am an artist as well, and when my husband was deployed, I recorded a single and released it in September 2022. When we moved back to Missouri, I started my contracting business helping other churches. In just a year, I was singing at four different churches around the STL area. I am also and most importantly a stay at home mom for my two beautiful girls (4) and (2). They are my world. Since starting this business of mine, it has been a roller coaster of amazing things. From the highs to the lows, each part fits into my story. I have met so many amazing and wonderful people, and am continuing to grow each day. I am hoping that in 2025 my business can grow and I can expand my reach a bit more and start traveling outside of the STL area to churches around not only the United States but the world!
This journey thus far has been incredible! I cannot wait to see what God does in my life and my families lives. He has not only blessed me in my music world, but also in every other aspect of my business. From UGC creating, to acting, script writing, MCing, one of the faces of KBuild Construction and St. Louis Kitchens and baths, interviewing at the 2024 STL Airshow for The Blue Angels, F-22 Raptor Team, and many more. God has blessed me and my family in unnumbered ways. Even down to this interview with your company. I appreciate your time in reading and being interested in my story.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth? No
Up and Down? Oh yeah!
Unfortunately because my main work is within the church, I work with people. Haha yes it’s meant to make you giggle because it’s true. I deal with people who are sinners and flawed just like me. I won’t get into specifics because it’s actually very similar across the board no matter the church or state. I’ve dealt with people who like to do a lot of promising without following through. So it gets your hopes up to things progressing and happening a certain way and then it all comes crashing down when they never actually follow through. This brings me to comparisons. Of course in my younger years I compared myself to others everyday. Then I very early on learned that there actually isn’t any health in comparison, unless it’s comparing our lives up to Jesus. When we compare ourselves to what others have or what others do, it actually limits us. Let me explain. We never have the whole picture of someone’s life, how they got to where they are, etc. This also brings me to assumptions. Making assumptions is one of the worst causes of division I believe. When we make assumptions before knowing someone or talking directly to them about a situation, we paint a picture. This picture is going to determine how we go into the next situation with this person.

So to expand a bit more. I have dealt with people/leaders who liked to make assumptions and comparisons about me before even knowing me. Unfortunately this caused some unfortunate issues that were avoidable. Through these years there’s been a lot of learning, growing, and discernment. God has shown me how to grow, where to go, and what to do next. He’s shown me how to gain wisdom, patience, and how to be slow to speak and quick to LISTEN.

So yes there’s been a good amount of downs, but there’s been way more Ups.

God has opened doors in my life that are unnumbered. He has shown me so much grace as I do my earthly best to lead by example. So in the end he deserves the glory because I would not be where I am or gone where I went without him.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a chameleon of sorts. I love this line because it really is true. I’m not only a contract worship leader but my business sort of aids in all things creative. I aid companies or individuals in each of the things below. So as you saw the list above here it is again.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to rejoice in through the trials. When something hard starts to creep up remember to set your eyes straight to Jesus. Pray continually, Rejoice always, and give thanks in every circumstance. We can look at trials as bad things and yes sometimes they can be bad. However, when we view them as an opportunity to learn and grow, rejoicing in the hardship, we can gain wisdom and knowledge beyond what we would if we just complained the whole time.
