Meet LaRelle Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaRelle Brown.

Hi LaRelle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, I was always an athlete and constantly active. In the summer of 2012, I was recruited to play basketball at Webster University in St. Louis (STL) after I graduated high school in 2013. Unfortunately, due to my failing grades, I could not transfer out of my community college (College of DuPage) until 2015. Once that year came, I moved to Webster Groves, MO to pursue my dreams of playing NCAA basketball as well as getting my Film & Television Production degree. While I was in St. Louis, I started meeting artists from all over the city. In 2018/2019, I made a documentary- titled “NoWhere: The Documentary”, which featured one of my favorite STL music groups, NoWhere. I think that was the solidified moment that made me realize that I was more than just a student-athlete, but an overall artist and pure creative. In this time I realized not only are my teammates inspiring me but as well as other artists and community members throughout the city.

Since 2012, while pursuing my college dreams, I had been making music in a group called MKTP. I continued to make music while I was living in STL. On January 19th in 2019, I did my first out-of-state show at Fubar with local artists NEX, Capital Jay, and Young Tyso for another local artist named Sammy for his Album release show. Since then, I have made music with so many amazing artists, as well as interning for A$AP Ant for his brand (Marino Infantry) to being in 2 music videos for (Roc Nations) Vic Mensa. All of these moments lead to my most recent piece of work which is my first studio album, “Iced Paisley”, under my rapper name LBSUPREMEG. Streamable on all platforms. The cover artwork for the album was also a collaboration with a former Webster Student Rachel Regan. Who has also gone to collab with other members in MKTP as well

Today, I travel all over the states to display music & art for the world to see. Constantly creating with many different artists.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Along the way, some of the struggles I experienced were my friends not tuning into my music or not supporting the vision. I had some trouble trying to perform at shows and recording started to become more expensive. During the pandemic, I lost my job and was unable to record until me & my group, MKTP, decided to take it upon ourselves to record, produce, mix and edit all of our content (videos, music & more)!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in rap vocalization- always coming up with new flows that people have never heard before. I’m unpredictable. I have a voice that I am always learning how to utilize. There’s so many ideas that I have on how to approach each song- making it sound completely different every time. Let’s say I have 2 verses on a record, neither of them will sound the same. If it takes me 5 takes. All 5 will be slightly or completely different. In summary, I am very proud of the way my music is starting to sound.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Be on the lookout for more music, films, and graffiti art on every city across the US and the world. MKTP will be one of the biggest music groups in the history of music. I want to be one of the most innovative artists since Kanye West and I plan to work on it every day all day until everyone knows who I am and have seen or heard of what I have created!
