Today we’d like to introduce you to Latonya Duncan.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was a preschool teacher for 17 years before I obtain my bachelor’s degree in Early childhood education in 2016. From there I obtained my first corporate job supporting early childhood programs across 8 states who were starting up, maintaining, or expanding their programs.
And then COVID hit in 2020 and everything changed. While the support I was giving was already virtual, the way that our customers were delivering services changed drastically. We were supporting others in a world that now would look different for our customers. And that became emotionally draining for me. And then, my grandmother passed unexpectedly in 2023. This changed everything for me. My grandma was like my second mother and all I could hear after that moment was her saying, make sure you are doing things to make you happy. You can’t live for everyone else. You can only live for you. . And at that point in my career, I knew that something had to change. So I goggled “jobs I could do working from home” and told goggle my background and the rest is history.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! There were many challenges. Family doubting that I could do it, shifting my mindset from an employee to the CEO of my business, finding clients and having the confidence to tell them who I help and how I can help. And even after almost 4 years in my business, I still have to remind myself that I am the CEO of my business and this is my purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I support established women entrepreneurs, mainly coaches, service providers, and consultants, by simplifying and streamlining the behind the scenes of their businesses. I create and implement automations, workflows, and systems that help them grow without losing their sanity or the personal touch their clients know and trust.
My services are done for you, which means I’m not just giving my clients a list of recommendations and sending them on their way. I actually build and implement the systems for them, giving them a way to offload the parts of their business that have become overwhelming, frustrating, or simply too much to keep managing on their own.
In a nutshell, I like to say I’m your IT bestie. I’m not the typical “IT girl.” Technology and systems can sometimes feel cold, complicated, or impersonal, but I bring warmth and empathy into that space. Before I build anything, I want to understand my client how she works, how she thinks, how her clients experience her business, and how she naturally moves through her day-to-day operations.
From there, we build systems around her business instead of forcing her business to fit into a system.
That’s probably what I’m most proud of about my brand. There’s a very human element to the work I do. Yes, we’re creating structure and using technology to make the business run more efficiently, but the goal isn’t to automate the personality out of it. The goal is to create a business that works better behind the scenes so my clients have more capacity to lead, serve their clients, and continue growing without everything depending on them.
