Meet Lauren Anderson of STL Countertops

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Anderson.

Lauren, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We had moved farther west during Covid and when I returned to work afterward, the drive to downtown was looong! So I had quit to focus on our rental properties but after about a year, I really missed working with a large variety of people and very much wanted to go back to full-time work. My husband Ken found this opportunity because the original owner was retiring – so now I’m in a full-time-plus job! But I love it – we have an amazing team of fabricators and installers, and our customers are simply the best, truly! I enjoy seeing their projects develop and am fortunate to be a part of that process.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We’ve had quite a learning curve! When we took on this business, we knew we wanted STL Countertops to be the countertop experts that customers can depend on for excellence. The previous owner, Frank, had stayed on with us for a few months to ensure the transition was smooth, and gratefully he has been wonderful to work with. He stops in every so often to check in on us, but he definitely smiles more and has quite the tan now that he’s retired!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We fabricate and install hard surfaces – from countertops, vanities, wall surrounds, fireplace hearths and more, using quartz, granite, marble, quartzite or soapstone. We focus on quality in everything we do to be able to give our customers the product they are looking for. We’re most proud of the installations and hearing just how thrilled our customers are with their project completion. Our goal is simply to make every customer genuinely happy, and there’s nothing better than seeing the final results.

I’m usually in the front showroom assisting customers with their choices and my husband is in the shop running the CNC, but when extra hands are needed you’ll see me driving the forklift!

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
It will take twice the amount of time & effort you think it will, but just dive in!
