Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisha Marie .
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I was around 10 years old, I moved in with my father and my 3 brothers. At that time, my father couldn’t afford to take him and the boys to get haircuts anymore due to personal/ health issues. So since money was tight he brought a clipper set and that was when the house cuts started for me.
At that time, I learn how to do my own her and I learn how to cut my brother’s hair as well. Back then it was simple 1 or 2 guards all over and linen. But every time I cut my dad’s hair I could see the satisfaction in him that he didn’t have to look like what he was going through.
So at that moment, I felt good that I could do something for him as simple as a haircut to make his day. I knew I wanted to do something to make people feel good about themselves even on their worst days or even their last days.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A smooth road never more like a bumpy road with about 6 potholes lol!! The challenges that I face throughout this whole journey is trying to balance everything. Building a brand while being a single mother at the same time is never easy. Luckily I have been blessed with a great support system that even on my worst days I can count on them to uplift me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in men’s braids, locs, and fades. I would say that I am more known for my braids and fades. I consider myself more of a one-stop-shop for my male clientele. I take pride In grooming my clientele and making them feel their best before leaving.
In doing so, I also provide a safe, comfortable, and relaxing environment. You know life is hard enough I’m just trying to make it easier.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
That’s a good question. The plan is to open my own shop in the next couple of years in the St. Charles area. Invest more into education and making sure I’m on top of the latest hair trends for my clientele. Maybe bring some of the east coast and west coast trends here to the Lou. But to be honest I don’t know what God has planned for my future because I would have never thought I’ll be here.
