Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria //Channing Hogrefe // Krichevsky.
Hi Maria //Channing , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We (Channing Krichevsky and Maria Hogrefe) met in design school at Maryville University. Over a pitcher of sangria, we decided to build a company founded on our shared principles: the most beautiful spaces are a little bit imperfect, authentic materials are top priority, and the client should stand front and center. Ten years later, C&M Interiors continues to grow with a team of ten women creating unique and inspiring luxury interiors.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We spent the last ten years refining our design process and building relationships with clients and vendors. A decade into this business, we are confident in our knowledge of construction, fine materials, and what makes a home both beautiful and practical for the family that lives in it. Building a business from the ground up at such a young age while balancing our personal lives consisted of a healthy dose of trial and error, but we’re proud of what we’ve created and learned.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Creating elevated spaces that define trends and provide every-day solutions to our clients is incredibly rewarding. We love developing a project from the initial vision through construction drawings and eventually styling antiques in a well-appointed room. By centering our clients and how they will live in and love a room for years to come, we can build a space they are truly proud to call home.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For us, success is building a business alongside your best friend that leaves plenty of room for creative growth, amazing clients who call us back for additional projects, and time with our young families.
