Meet Matthew King of St. Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew King.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey has been shaped by discipline, persistence, and a deep belief that growth comes from doing hard things consistently. I’ve always been drawn to fitness, performance, and self-improvement—not just physically, but mentally and professionally. What started as a personal passion for training and pushing my limits eventually evolved into a desire to help others do the same, which led me into online fitness coaching.

Along the way, I realized that fitness and modeling share a common foundation: confidence, consistency, and showing up prepared. I began pursuing modeling and acting seriously, building my portfolio, attending castings, and learning the business side of the industry. Being signed with an agency was a major milestone and a reminder that progress compounds when you stay committed, even when results aren’t immediate.

At the same time, I’ve continued working a demanding full-time job, balancing long shifts with training, content creation, auditions, and growing my business. Becoming a father has added even more purpose to everything I do—it’s pushed me to raise my standards and think long-term about the life I’m building.

Today, I’m focused on expanding my online coaching business, continuing to grow in the modeling and acting space, and becoming the best version of myself so I can positively impact others. My story isn’t about overnight success—it’s about steady progress, resilience, and believing that with enough consistency and heart, you can create opportunities from wherever you start.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most meaningful paths, it’s been filled with setbacks, uncertainty, and moments where quitting would have been the easier option. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing everything at once—working long hours at a physically demanding job while building an online fitness business, pursuing modeling and acting, and continuing to train at a high level. Time, energy, and consistency have all been tested.

One of the most difficult struggles I’ve faced has been personal loss. I lost my father and two of my brothers, experiences that fundamentally changed me. Grief has a way of shaking your foundation and forcing you to confront life from a deeper perspective. There were times when simply showing up—physically and mentally—felt overwhelming. Learning how to keep moving forward while carrying that loss was one of the hardest lessons I’ve ever had to learn.

Another challenge has been patience. In both entrepreneurship and modeling, progress isn’t always immediate. There were long stretches of effort without visible results, which tested my belief in myself and the process. I also had to learn to manage self-doubt and block out external noise, staying focused on my own path instead of comparing myself to others.

Becoming a father added a new layer of responsibility, but it also gave me clarity and purpose. It pushed me to grow, to lead by example, and to honor the people I’ve lost by building a life rooted in discipline, resilience, and intention.

None of these struggles were easy, but they shaped who I am today. They taught me gratitude, mental toughness, and the importance of perseverance. I’ve learned that hardship doesn’t disqualify you from success—it often becomes the reason you’re strong enough to achieve it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In the modeling and acting world, I’m known for my professionalism, preparation, and work ethic. I approach it the same way I approach training—consistently showing up, staying coachable, and treating it like a craft and a business, not just an opportunity. Being signed with an agency has been an important milestone, but what matters most to me is continually improving and earning trust through reliability and effort.

What I’m most proud of is building all of this while navigating significant personal loss, maintaining a demanding full-time job, and becoming a father. I’ve learned how to operate under pressure, manage my time intentionally, and keep moving forward even when life isn’t easy. That resilience shows up in my work and in how I support the people I coach.

What sets me apart is that I genuinely live what I teach. I don’t sell shortcuts or unrealistic promises. I believe in discipline over motivation, consistency over perfection, and long-term growth over quick wins. My goal is to create real impact—helping people become stronger not just in the gym, but in life—and to lead by example through action, not just words.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite memories growing up was starting martial arts when I was 18. It was a turning point in my life. Walking into the gym for the first time pushed me far outside my comfort zone, but it quickly became a place where I found discipline, confidence, and structure. Martial arts taught me respect, accountability, and how to stay calm under pressure—lessons that have stayed with me ever since and continue to influence how I approach challenges today.
