Today we’d like to introduce you to Meranda Green.
Hi Meranda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story as a photographer started in a way I never expected. Years ago, I picked up a camera with no intention of starting a business or building a career. I simply wanted to capture memories, document life, and preserve moments that meant something to me. Photography was never about making money in the beginning—it was purely something I enjoyed.
As my passion grew, I became interested in photographing people instead of just everyday moments. I came across a local fashion designer who was hosting a casting call and decided it would be the perfect opportunity to challenge myself and see what it was like working with people. I reached out and offered to photograph the headshots for the casting call. That experience became the turning point in my journey.
After the casting call, I was invited to photograph the fashion show itself. That opportunity opened so many doors for me. It allowed me to build my portfolio while working with a variety of talented models, and after the show, I began reaching out to many of those same models to collaborate on individual creative shoots. Each session helped me gain experience, develop my style, and build a body of work that reflected my vision.
As my portfolio continued to grow, something unexpected happened—people began reaching out asking about my pricing and wanting to book sessions with me. Up until that point, I had never considered photography as a career because I genuinely loved doing it for fun. Realizing that people valued my work enough to invest in it completely changed my perspective and inspired me to take my passion more seriously.
As my business grew, I focused on building a brand that represented who I was as both an artist and a creative. I eventually opened my own studio, which gave me the freedom to bring even bigger ideas to life. I also began collaborating with incredibly talented makeup artists, hairstylists, stylists, and other creatives to create unique concepts and push my creativity even further. Those collaborations not only strengthened my portfolio but also helped me grow professionally and taught me the value of building relationships within the creative community.
Like many entrepreneurs, my journey hasn’t been without setbacks. I experienced seasons that forced me to step away from photography and rethink everything. Those challenges tested me personally and professionally, but they also strengthened my faith, my resilience, and my determination to continue pursuing the career I love. Looking back, I realize those difficult moments didn’t stop my journey—they simply became part of my story.
Now that I’ve returned to photography, I feel more motivated than ever. My vision is much bigger than when I first started. I want to continue growing my brand, expanding into new cities, collaborating with creatives from different backgrounds, and building a stronger presence across multiple social media platforms. Most importantly, I want to continue creating meaningful, artistic work that inspires people and tells stories that matter.
This is only the beginning. I’m excited about what’s ahead and grateful for every opportunity that has brought me to this point. I truly believe my journey is just getting started, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this road leads next.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Photography has been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life. From the moment I picked up a camera, I knew it was more than just a hobby—it was something I was truly called to do. Photography allows me to tell stories, capture genuine moments, and create memories that people can cherish forever. While I love what I do, building a photography business has come with challenges that have tested me in ways I never expected.
One of the biggest obstacles I faced came at what felt like the peak of my career. Just as my business was gaining momentum, I found out I was pregnant. Becoming a mother was one of the greatest blessings in my life, but it also brought a completely new set of responsibilities. Like many first-time parents, I had no instruction manual. My days quickly became filled with sleepless nights, doctor’s appointments, constant caregiving, and learning how to navigate motherhood one day at a time.
At the same time, I was trying to keep my photography business alive. I was marketing my services, communicating with clients, scheduling sessions, editing galleries, and trying to stay creatively inspired—all while adjusting to one of the biggest life changes I had ever experienced. Balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship pushed me beyond my limits and taught me what true perseverance looks like.
What made that season even more difficult was not having a strong support system. I didn’t have a team helping me manage my business or people I could consistently rely on when life became overwhelming. There were days when I felt exhausted, discouraged, and questioned whether I could continue. I missed opportunities, had to delay responses to potential clients, and even turned down projects because I simply couldn’t give them the attention they deserved.
Eventually, I had to make one of the hardest decisions of my career—I stepped away from photography for over a year so I could focus on caring for my child and creating stability for my family. At the time, it felt like I was putting my dreams on hold, but looking back, I realize that season was preparing me for the future. It gave me the opportunity to grow personally, become more intentional, and return with a renewed vision for both my life and my business.
Today, I am in a completely different place. My child is older, my life has more structure, and I have been able to fully recommit myself to my business. I have invested in improving my skills, upgraded my equipment, refined my workflow, and become much more intentional about the experience I provide for every client. Every challenge I’ve faced has made me a stronger business owner, a better photographer, and a more compassionate person.
When I look back, those years represent the greatest challenges and obstacles I have faced in my photography journey. There were moments when I felt like giving up, but my faith never allowed me to stay there. God became my source of strength during the hardest seasons of my life. When I felt overwhelmed, He gave me peace. When I felt discouraged, He reminded me of my purpose. Even when I couldn’t see what was ahead, I trusted that He was guiding every step of my journey.
Those experiences changed me. They taught me patience, resilience, humility, and the importance of trusting God’s timing instead of my own. They also gave me a deeper appreciation for the people I photograph because I understand that behind every smile is a story, and behind every success is a journey that others may never see.
Today, I don’t view those setbacks as failures—I see them as part of the foundation that shaped the photographer and business owner I am becoming. They are the greatest challenges I have faced in this industry, but they are also the reason I approach my work with so much gratitude and purpose.
As I continue building my business, my goal is to create more than beautiful images. I want to create lasting memories, inspire others to pursue their dreams despite life’s obstacles, and show that with perseverance, faith, and hard work, it’s possible to overcome even the most difficult seasons. I’m excited for what’s ahead, and I believe the best part of my story is still being written.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a portrait, creative, and editorial photographer, although I enjoy photographing just about everything. Whether it’s branding sessions, lifestyle portraits, events, or conceptual work, I love the opportunity to tell a story through my camera. One aspect of my work that I especially enjoy is creative direction. I don’t just capture images—I develop the overall vision for my shoots, from the concept and styling to the location, lighting, and final execution. Bringing an idea from imagination to reality is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
Over the years, I’ve become known for my creative and conceptual photography. I love pushing myself beyond traditional portraits and creating images that feel artistic, intentional, and memorable. I’m most proud of my ability to bring my visions to life and of how much I’ve grown throughout my journey in this industry. Every project has helped me refine my craft, expand my creativity, and become more confident as both an artist and a business owner. One milestone that I’m especially proud of is having my work featured in Vogue, which was an incredible reminder that the dreams I set for myself are achievable through dedication, faith, and perseverance.
What sets me apart from other photographers is that I don’t try to fit into a particular trend or copy someone else’s style. I believe every creative should have a unique voice, so I focus on creating work that feels authentic to me. I enjoy experimenting with different concepts, themes, and artistic ideas while developing a style that is distinctly my own. My goal is for people to recognize my work not because it looks like everyone else’s, but because it reflects my creativity, my vision, and the passion I pour into every shoot. Whether the concept is bold and editorial or simple and timeless, I always strive to create images that leave a lasting impression.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
If there is one person who deserves tremendous credit for my journey, it is my mom. From the very beginning, she believed in me long before anyone else did. When I first told her that I wanted to become a photographer, work with celebrities, and one day see my work featured in magazines, she never laughed at my dreams or dismissed them as unrealistic. Instead, she encouraged me to dream even bigger and reminded me that with faith, hard work, and perseverance, anything is possible.
Throughout the highs and lows of building my business, my mom has remained my biggest supporter. Whenever I felt discouraged, doubted myself, or questioned whether I was capable of reaching my goals, she was always there to encourage me and remind me of my purpose. She has a unique way of making even my biggest dreams feel within reach, and her unwavering belief in me has given me the confidence to keep moving forward, even during the most difficult seasons.
One of the hardest moments in my journey came during the time I stepped away from photography. I had convinced myself that I would never return to the industry. I was so discouraged that I even sold my camera because I believed that chapter of my life was over. My mom refused to let me give up on the gift she knew God had placed inside of me. She reminded me that photography wasn’t just something I enjoyed—it was something I truly loved and a talent God had blessed me with for a reason. She encouraged me not to walk away from my calling simply because I was going through a difficult season. Those conversations changed everything. They gave me the courage to believe in myself again, and ultimately, they are what brought me back to photography.
Looking back, I truly believe I would not be where I am today without her love, encouragement, and unwavering support. She has celebrated every milestone, stood beside me through every setback, and never stopped believing in my potential—even during the times I stopped believing in myself. For that, she deserves so much of the credit for the photographer and business owner I have become. I will always be grateful to have a mother who saw God’s purpose for my life before I could see it myself and who never stopped reminding me that my dreams were worth pursuing.
