Meet Mindy Miles of St Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mindy Miles.

Hi Mindy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I was in high school I discovered my passion for professional photography, although even as child I was always sneaking my mom’s camera to do little photoshoots with my friends and stuffed animals. Once I graduated high school I went to college and majored in Photography with a minor in business. I started an internship at a photography studio in St Louis and I learned so much about photography, running a business, customer service and truly where I learned I didn’t want to conform to another persons creative vision so I started my own business in 2008. I had a plan, put it into action and business just took off and never stopped. I have always put my passion before the money and have kept my pricing reasonable so that I can continue doing what I love and give people the gift that keeps on giving every day for decades. Photographs are treasures and should be treated as such. Once I was good and stable in St Louis I started traveling for weddings and photo sessions in some really beautiful places. I’ve done weddings in 27 states and 6 countries and more on the books! I am always grateful for my loyal customers who have supported me and my little family all this time. I could never be who I am or do the things I do with them.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say smooth can ever be used as a describing word for someone who has been in business almost 20 years with 5 kids. The biggest bumps come from balancing making your customers happy and your family happy all together. Both demand a lot of time, attention, and dedication. And adhd surely doesn’t help lol

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a professional photographer who specializes in destination weddings and elopements. I am known for my travels all over the world. I’ve been to 49 states, 6 countries, 19 national parks and all 14 parishes in Jamaica. I am also known for my annual Christmas mini sessions. They are very magical and elaborate. I am proud of living my dream and following through on so many goals. All while being a single mom and running a successful business.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love that St Louis has so many family friendly activities to do that are low to no cost and the parks are so amazing. I think the label of being one of the most dangerous cities in the world is my least favorite thing. I’m confident if the people judging based off that list would come and visit they would quickly change their opinion.
