Today we’d like to introduce you to Omar Row
Hi Omar, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey began with a deep passion for creating unique experiences and helping others express their individuality. I started out with a studio in the Grove, but when COVID hit, I was forced to relocate. This led my husband and I to move into a new neighborhood where we built a full salon in our home. While this transition was unexpected, it allowed me to continue doing what I love during a challenging time.
Unexpectedly last year, I found an incredible opportunity—a beautiful space on Cherokee Street. This has been a transformative step for me, allowing me to connect with the community in a more profound way. Today I’m proud to be a part of the Cherokee Street business district and my journey has taught me the importance of resilience, flexibility, and the power of community support.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I believe the challenges have shaped me and my business in meaningful ways. One of the biggest hurdles was moving during COVID. I had to unexpectedly leave my studio in the Grove and adapt by building a full salon in our new home. It was a difficult adjustment, both emotionally and logistically, but it pushed me to be resourceful and flexible.
Another challenge has been navigating the demands of running a small business while maintaining creativity and staying true to my vision. There were moments of doubt, especially when faced with uncertainty in a changing market, but each struggle brought lessons that helped me grow stronger. Finding a beautiful space on Cherokee Street was a turning point, but even then, there have been ups and downs. The support of the community and my passion for what I do keeps me going, no matter the obstacles.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in both hair styling and vintage fashion, blending these two passions to create a unique and personalized experience for my clients. Hair has always been a core part of my work, but recently, I’ve added vintage clothing to my styling services, which has enriched the overall one-stop satisfaction for my hair clients. I believe that hair and fashion go hand in hand, and by offering both, I’m able to provide a full, cohesive look that reflects each client’s individuality.
What sets me apart is this combination of services and my dedication to helping people feel confident and unique. I’m known for creating a welcoming and creative space where my clients can explore new styles, and I’m proud of the way I’ve built my brand around personal expression. The community I’ve built on Cherokee Street, along with my passion for merging hair and fashion, makes what I do truly special.
What’s next?
Looking ahead, O POTHECARY x OMAR STYLES is focused on thoughtful expansion. While I’ve enjoyed maintaining control over my daily clientele (especially since gaining 28 new clients since my move to Cherokee St), I see the need to scale up in a way that still allows for personal connections and high-quality service.
I’m planning to hire an assistant to help manage client communications and streamline online bookings, allowing me more time to focus on the creative side. I also want to provide a more hands-on experience with my vintage offerings, making sure my clients can fully explore the fashion side of my brand. Additionally, I’m excited to host more pop-up events, collaborating with artists and creatives to bring more vibrant experiences to the community.
It’s all about expanding access to my services while keeping the brand authentic and manageable. I’m really looking forward to seeing how my vision comes to life.
