Meet Patrick Recer of St Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Recer.

Patrick, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out creating animations and editing others’ footage for videos and quickly became addicted. Soon after, I bought my first camera and haven’t looked back since. Now, in year fifteen, I still love what I do and enjoy the challenge each project brings. My goal is to produce high-end cinematic videos that accurately tell the story of your brand, highlight your event, or help you get your message out. Whether it’s a promotional video, a documentary-style piece, or event coverage, I bring a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling to every project. Let’s create something visually stunning and impactful together!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I filmed my first-ever wedding and dropped my main camera.

After purchasing a ton of gear, I was ready to make some money to pay it all off, but instead, I ended up dropping the most expensive piece of equipment I bought on day one.

Felt like I was doomed, but now it’s funny to look back on and laugh.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My vision as your wedding videographer is to keep things simple, but real. This means not making the photographers & the couple redo poses multiple times to get the perfect shot. I rather observe & capture true candid moments throughout the day. After all, no one wants to be pulled a million directions on their wedding day :).

I believe that cinematic and unobtrusive camera methods combined with a storytelling approach, create a candid and vivid film experience.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I would say to reach out to someone whose work you admire. People in the industry have always been helpful and encouraging. Sometimes will even allow you to shadow them for a day.
