Patrick, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out creating animations and editing others’ footage for videos and quickly became addicted. Soon after, I bought my first camera and haven’t looked back since. Now, in year fifteen, I still love what I do and enjoy the challenge each project brings. My goal is to produce high-end cinematic videos that accurately tell the story of your brand, highlight your event, or help you get your message out. Whether it’s a promotional video, a documentary-style piece, or event coverage, I bring a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling to every project. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I filmed my first-ever wedding and dropped my main camera.
After purchasing a ton of gear, I was ready to make some money to pay it all off, but instead, I ended up dropping the most expensive piece of equipment I bought on day one.
Felt like I was doomed, but now it’s funny to look back on and laugh.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My vision as your wedding videographer is to keep things simple, but real. This means not making the photographers & the couple redo poses multiple times to get the perfect shot. I rather observe & capture true candid moments throughout the day. After all, no one wants to be pulled a million directions on their wedding day :).
I believe that cinematic and unobtrusive camera methods combined with a storytelling approach, create a candid and vivid film experience.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I would say to reach out to someone whose work you admire. People in the industry have always been helpful and encouraging. Sometimes will even allow you to shadow them for a day.
