Hi Racine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Bidi Bidi Bom Bom started from something really personal for me. A love for our culture, and the joy of seeing young women and brides feel beautiful, confident, and celebrated. I opened the store after realizing so many families were driving hours just to find authentic quinceañera and bridal dresses that truly reflected their heritage and personal style.
When I started, it was just me with a handful of dresses, and a whole lot of faith. Over time, through word of mouth from our amazing St. Louis Latino community, and just a little help from social media, the business started to grow. People connected with us not just because of the dresses, but because of the experience. When you walk into Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, you feel it. The joy and love of the community flows deep here.
Today, Bidi Bidi Bom Bom has become so much more than a dress shop. We have expanded what we offer including being the largest sellers of Mexican Gold in St. Louis. I’m proud of how far we’ve come, and even prouder that we continue to lift up other local Latino businesses along the way with us.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh, it definitely has not been a smooth road, but that’s what makes it worth it, right? When I started Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, I didn’t have a blueprint or investors. I just had my vision, faith, and a whole hell of a lot of hustle. There were times I was steaming dresses until midnight, figuring out marketing on my phone, or worrying if the next shipment would even get here on time.
when COVID hit, it was one of the hardest times for us. Everything stopped, there were no parties, no weddings, no quinceañeras. But we pushed through. We stayed connected with our customers, and little by little, the community came back stronger than ever.
Then with the new administration came new challenges. Tariffs and shipping costs skyrocketed, making it harder to bring in the beautiful, high-quality dresses our clients deserve without raising prices. We’ve had to get really creative to keep things affordable and still deliver that “wow” moment our customers expect.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, we specialize in ball gowns for all occassions, quinceañera gowns, and bridal fashion but we’re really known for the drama. Think big, bold, beautiful ball gowns, incredible details, charro-inspired designs, and princess-style wedding dresses with veils that turn heads. Everything we do is about celebrating individuality and making our clients feel like absolute royalty.
When you walk into our store, it’s not just about finding a dress it’s an experience. There’s music, laughter, happy tears. It’s a whole moment.
What sets us apart is how deeply we care about every person who walks in. We understand these dresses aren’t just outfits for a day; they’re part of a family’s history, their traditions, and their pride. I’m so proud that we’ve built a space where our community can come together, celebrate their culture, and feel beautiful and powerful.
What does success mean to you?
Success is showing up every day, creating beauty, and making people feel proud of who they are. Having the opportunity to touch so many celebrations in the St. Louis area is truly humbling.
