Hi Renee, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Dream Time Princess Events began in the most magical way—through one simple birthday party. A parent at the school where Renee worked asked if her daughter Savannah could appear as a princess for her child’s celebration. Savannah agreed, wearing a gown the parent provided, and the response was overwhelming. Parents at the party insisted she should start a business bringing that same joy to other families.
Savannah’s background in the performing arts made her a natural fit for this line of work. She spent many years as a competitive dancer and appeared as a featured dancer in numerous musical productions. Her ability to perform with grace, confidence, and heart became the foundation for the quality of entertainment Dream Time is known for today.
With Renee’s background in the entertainment department of a major theme park—where she supervised characters and shows—they researched how to create the highest-quality experience possible. Together, they launched Dream Time Princess Events with just three characters, determined to make each performance feel like stepping into a fairytale.
What started as a part-time family project quickly blossomed into a full-time company. Within the second year, they introduced their first Dream Time Princess Ball, which became a signature event for families across the St. Louis metro area. As demand grew, Renee left her school position to help Savannah full-time.
In 2021, Savannah’s sister Haleigh officially joined the business, bringing her own wealth of experience as a professional performer at a major theme park, where she appeared as a show dancer, superhero, and mascot character. Her background, along with both sisters’ extensive dance training, has played a major role in shaping the choreography and performance quality at Dream Time’s large-scale events.
Today, Dream Time Princess Events has grown into one of Missouri’s most recognized names in family entertainment, known for live-singing performers, stunning costumes, and fully immersive events. Ten years later, the company hosts large-scale ticketed experiences, corporate partnerships, and private celebrations across the Midwest—all built on the same heart and purpose that began with one little girl’s birthday wish.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any growing business, our journey hasn’t always been easy—but every challenge has shaped Dream Time Princess Events into the company it is today.
One of our biggest hurdles has been finding the perfect performers—people who can not only sing, dance, and act beautifully, but who can truly embody the heart of a character. Children notice every detail, and we believe they deserve performers who look, sound, and act exactly like the princess or hero they’ve imagined. Maintaining that level of excellence means we can’t simply “put anyone in a costume.” We seek out team members who are talented, dependable, and who serve as positive role models both on and off the stage. Because of that, we sometimes limit how many events we take on so we can preserve the integrity of every experience.
We also faced one of our hardest seasons during the COVID-19 pandemic, when we were closed for nearly a year and limited for another on what we could safely offer. That time tested our creativity and determination. We used it to strengthen our training, improve our costuming, and plan new experiences for families who needed a little extra magic once the world reopened.
Another ongoing challenge has been costuming. Our gowns and wigs are not off-the-rack—they are custom creations from some of the most skilled designers in the industry. Many take up to a year to produce, and we invest heavily to ensure each one is movie-quality. While that requires a great deal of planning and patience, it’s worth every effort to give our clients the magic and quality they expect.
Through all of these challenges, our focus has remained the same: to create truly unforgettable, high-quality character experiences for families across the St. Louis area. The road hasn’t always been smooth, but it has been absolutely magical.

We’re best known for our signature productions—the Dream Time Princess Ball and A Christmas Dream—which have become annual traditions for families across the St. Louis region. Over the years, we’ve also developed a wide variety of themed ticketed events and corporate collaborations that keep the magic fresh year-round.
Our team has had the honor of partnering with many incredible organizations, including the St. Louis Cardinals, Missouri Botanical Garden, The Butterfly House, Chick-fil-A, McDonald’s, the Miss Augusta Boat, Jellystone Park, and numerous local cities for their festivals and celebrations. We’re also deeply committed to giving back. Dream Time proudly supports Friends of Kids with Cancer, The Dream Factory, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Cancer Support Community, donating character appearances throughout the year to bring smiles to children facing difficult circumstances.
A huge part of what makes our performances stand out is the hands-on involvement of our leadership team. Haleigh, who previously performed at a major theme park, uses her professional entertainment background to personally train our cast members in everything from character movement to guest interaction. She also plays a key role in developing choreography and creating new event concepts alongside Savannah. Both sisters’ extensive dance experience ensures that every stage performance and interactive moment meets the highest artistic standard.
We’re also incredibly proud to have recently introduced Royal Manners as part of our Dream Time Princess Ball experience, along with our companion Manners Guide for families. In today’s world, kindness, respect, and gratitude are more important than ever—and we believe those timeless lessons can be taught in a magical way. Through our interactive princess events, children learn the beauty of politeness, patience, and treating others with grace, all while having fun. It’s our way of helping bring manners back into focus and reminding families that true royalty starts from within.

In our industry, collaboration truly makes all the difference. The most valuable relationships we’ve built over the years have come from working alongside other talented small business owners in the family entertainment community—like face painters, balloon artists, photographers, and event coordinators. We’ve found that when businesses share the same heart for creating joy and lasting memories, there’s room for everyone to shine.
We also have a sister company in Illinois that we’ve developed a wonderful partnership with. They share our same commitment to quality and professionalism, and we often support one another by sharing advice, ideas, and occasionally even performers when our schedules allow. It’s refreshing to have that kind of mutual respect in an industry that can sometimes feel competitive.
Our biggest advice for anyone looking to build meaningful connections or find mentorship is to lead with generosity and integrity. When you approach others not as competitors but as collaborators, you open the door for shared growth, encouragement, and inspiration.
