Today we’d like to introduce you to Roisee.
Hi Roisee, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In the year 2017 (age 17,18), I started pursuing music. I was at the time homeless prior to and during my early journey in the music industry. I slept and lived out of a friend’s studio where multiple artists, producers, and businessmen would come to use the studio. I tried every opportunity to be seen to write and make music there, till it got to a point where the individuals there saw I had talent and I had the qualities to actually make it in the industry.
I continued to work, with no pay, just off the strength of my talent with these people I eventually found a manager who saw my vision and respected my values. Since then we’ve worked together to make “Roisee” (me) a somebody. I created my first album in 2018 called “Summon the Roisee” with some of the top producers in the country (Detroit nix, Backpackmiller, and Chopsquad DJ) after that; I was then able to perform all over the U.S. (Texas, New York, Atlanta, California, Tennessee) opening up for artists like Jacquees, and Tee Grizzley. Which led to some amazing opportunities.
In 2019 I was asked to be part of a movie soundtrack, that will soon premiere on Netflix 2022 called “guys at parties like it”. Now with all this experience many labels being interested, and turning down many thousand dollar deals I’ve remained independent! Stayed true to me! Created my own label “RoiseeMG”! Spending 2020-21 pursuing NFTs on the brink of release.
I’m now at a point where I can release music and art that will not only catapult my career but I’m creating content and music that will positively influence the masses instead of negatively. I took all this time soul searching creating with so much trial and error to finally be the person I always wanted to be Raw, Real, Honest, and Bold.
I hope to inspire others to take control of their lives and realize you only have this one chance at life and not waste it being miserable, insecure, afraid, and depressed. We MUST OVERCOME! And in this dark world, there is light!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I struggled with homelessness ever since I was a child. Never had the newest things got to a point where I didn’t even care about money or material things I just wanted to survive life and help those that have helped me. Homelessness from age 9-to 20 taught me patience to be grateful and to appreciate everything in life from people to experiences good and bad. Everything is for a reason.
Besides homelessness I struggled with depression, anxiety, insecurity, and identity crisis being a mixed raced individual I never fit anywhere. I was too white for the blacks and too black for the whites. The Spanish community liked me but I couldn’t relate because of the culture and language barrier. So I was legit a human just trynna survive in this world as an outcast.
I struggled with the importance of morals and values throughout life. In a world where anything goes and all is accepted there were no boundaries for me at one time. And because of that, I destroyed myself in many ways nothing physically permanently damaging but psychologically I have to live with many regrets. So I advise those to take life seriously and don’t do ANYTHING! It’ll hurt tamper and change your soul forever.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create music and art! I’m known for my grudge honest apocalyptic not perfect theme of music and aesthetic. Where flaws are beautiful and I choose to see the beauty in the “so-called” ugly. Because in real life things aren’t perfect.
I’m most proud of my courage to speak on the unspoken things and really live what I create and speak! A lot of people lie and push illusions.
What sets me apart is me being able to be real enough to reflect on myself and express the flaws within myself to help others feel comfortable and not alone in this life! Music can heal and help. And hopefully, there are others that feel the same as me because my future music is gonna be revolutionary in the most beautiful and positive way ever created.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Stay true to yourself! And what I mean is don’t compromise your soul your worth your values and morals for temporary pleasures and you have to be completely unafraid to say the things you wanna hear not what everybody else wants.
I wish I knew my worth at the beginning would have saved me a lot of pain and heartache. But even if you do dabble and sin a little know that you can overcome and be better at any point! EVERYTHING IS A CHOICE!! Nobody forces you to do anything! YOU control YOUR world!!!
