Hi Sara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Owning my own coffee shop had always been a dream of mine. As an avid coffee drinker, I’ve always appreciated how a great cup of coffee can bring people together, spark conversations, and create meaningful moments. For years I imagined of creating a place where people could slow down, connect, and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. The crepe side of the business came naturally, friends were always asking me to make crepes for them and they quickly became one of my signature specialties. My love for crepes goes back to my childhood, so bringing those flavors and traditions into the cafe felt like a way to share a piece of that experience with others. When I started Cafe Fleur De Lis, my goal was about more than just serving coffee and food.I wanted to create a community gathering place, a welcoming environment where people could sit down together, have real conversations, and enjoy each others company. In a world that often feels rushed, I wanted to bring back some of the spirit of the good old slow paced days! Today, Cafe Fleur De Lis is a realization of that dream I had. It is a place where friends meet, families gather, neighbors connect, and visitors feel at home. Every cup of coffee served and every crepe prepared is part of a larger mission… creating moments that bring people together and remind us to slow down, be present, and enjoy the company of those around us.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. Like most small business owners, I faced a number of challenges along the way. Finding a reputable architect who could take the vision I had in my head and turn it into plans on paper to be submitted to the county, a lot of time spent going back and forth on those drawings, revisions, submissions, and approvals. From there construction delays played another stressful role. Timelines that were originally set, often ended up being shifted. There were moments when it felt like every step forward came with a new challenge. Starting a business requires patience, persistence, and the ability to adapt when things don’t go as planned. While the journey was far from easy, every challenge made opening the cafe even more rewarding because they reminded me how much determination and hard work it took to bring that dream to life.

At Cafe Fleur De Lis, we specialize in handcrafted coffee drinks and made-to-order crepes, we also have a variety of other breakfast and pastry options. We have become known not only for the quality of our beverages and food, but for the welcoming atmosphere that encourages people to slow down, relax, and enjoy their time together. What sets us apart from others is that Cafe Fleur De Lis was built around the idea of community. Again, we wanted more than just your local coffee shop, we wanted to create a place to sit face-to-face, have conversations, build relationships, and enjoy the moment.
