Mrs Kesha Kent of Greater St. Louis area on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Mrs Kesha Kent shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Kesha , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Absolutely! One of my proudest moments was when my daughter was awarded an AFS scholarship this summer, which allowed her to travel and study abroad in Costa Rica. The experience strengthened my faith in humanity in every way. Imagine your baby girl traveling out of the country, staying with a host family to immerse herself in the Costa Rican culture for seven weeks! I’m so proud of her! Her courage and willingness shone through every adventure she took, from taking public transportation for the first time to visiting the volcano. What made it most successful was her host family, who welcomed her and made sure she felt a true sense of belonging. Watching her embrace new cultures, grow in courage, and be cared for by people far away from home has been such a blessing. It’s a reminder that kindness, connection, and community truly exist all around the world.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Kesha, known as MrsKeshSpeaks, a wife, mother, author, speaker, and connector with over two decades of experience in Talent Strategy, Recruiting, and Leadership. My book, Networking: It’s Your Superpower, reflects my passion for building authentic connections that open doors and transform lives.

I earned both my Bachelor of Arts in Management and Leadership and my Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Judson University, a safe place that nurtured my growth and prepared me to lead with purpose.

My story is also one of resilience. In 2024, I stood on the That’s What She Said platform and released decades of trauma I had carried since childhood. That moment of truth taught me that healing and courage walk hand in hand, and it fuels the work I do today, helping others own their stories and rise with confidence.

My journey has led me to be featured in Oprah Daily, serve as a Global Ambassador for Dress for Success, and be honored with the 2023 Champions for Diversity Award. I also hold Toastmasters International’s highest distinction, Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM).

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My grandmother, my mother, my aunts, and my uncles, my family and mentors saw me clearly before I could fully see myself. They spoke life into me, reminded me of my worth, and held the vision until I was strong enough to walk in it. Their love and belief shaped the woman I am today.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?

I stopped hiding my pain and started using it as power…first in 2007, when I left an unhealthy relationship and moved across the world, for a new start and again in 2023, when I walked away from a toxic work environment. Both times became fuel, and pain became my power. 💪✨

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
One belief I’m committed to, no matter how long it takes, is creating tables where people truly belong, where voices are heard, contributions are valued, and everyone feels like they matter. Through my work with organizations and teams, I’ve helped build spaces where breaking bread together isn’t just symbolic, it’s transformational, fostering connection, inclusion, and belonging.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story people tell about me when I’m gone is that I showed up fully, lifted others, and created spaces where everyone felt seen, heard, and valued. That I turned my own challenges into power, my work into impact, and my life into a legacy of connection, belonging, and possibility
