Rising Stars: Meet 1eleven of St. Louis, MO

Today we’d like to introduce you to 1eleven

Hi 1eleven, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started producing beats when I was 14; they weren’t any good but it was definitely a start. During my time in high school, I began to improve and take it more seriously. I also started writing lyrics in my free time. During my senior year, a group of friends and I started making rap songs for fun using an Xbox headset as a mic. After I graduated, I attended University of Missouri St. Louis for one year. That’s where I met a very close friend of mine who let me use his home studio to record. This was the first time I was actually using professional equipment. Over the course of the next year or so (2021-2022) I started building a catalogue of music and a discography on all platforms. Around this time I truly started taking music seriously. In fall of 2022, I landed an internship at Phat Buddha Productions which led to my job as a Recording Engineer. Now I use my resources to create my own music as well as record other artists in and/or visiting the city. I started performing live in 2023 and have no intention of stopping anytime soon. Even though I’ve been at it all this time, it still feels like I’m just starting.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As much as I wish I could say everything has been smooth sailing, it most definitely has not. Throughout late high school and my only year of college I was battling a couple of addictions (which I have since overcame). While I thought it was helping me be creative and stay relaxed, it was really just holding me back and killing my bank account. I was kicked out of school after my first year for getting a 0.0 GPA both semesters. I could barely take anything seriously and I was not helping myself. I feel like one of the only things that truly brought me out of that period was music, who knows where I’d be today if it weren’t for that.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an upcoming artist, producer, and engineer. I primarily make rap music, but I have songs all across the board. As far as my music I’m best known for my unique flows and rhyme schemes as well as my melodies. My main goal is for every song I make to be something to remember. As far as engineering, I feel like I’m best known for my mixes and the effort I put into each and every song. I pay close attention to what the artist is saying and how they feel in order to take the song to the next level. What I feel like sets me apart most is the energy I try to carry around me. I don’t do negativity. No matter what, I want to leave my listeners and/or collaborators with a positive experience. I’m very big with manifesting what you want and treating others how I’d wish to be treated. I feel like overall the music industry is super competitive and I’m just here to have a good time.
